Paper Hearts.
Chapter One:
Cut outs.
Willow23
The weather outside was oddly calm, with a light breeze blowing only enough to ruffle the top most leaves in the highest trees.
The grounds were lavishly green, and scatterings of students could be found lying lazily under the shade of the birch trees, or paddling their toes in the lake.
However in the highest tower that Hogwarts possessed, a lone student was sitting watchfully, making paper cut outs.
The solitary student stood, after hours of work, only to release a thousand paper hearts over the population of Hogwarts.
Catching on the breeze, the hearts twirled in many different directions, in flowing movements, and spiralling sequences.
Each heart taking a different direction, much like the lives of the people below her, reflected Hermione.
Some would wind up caught in tree tops, preventing them from their potential. Others would fall by the way side, and be subjected to following a certain path. Still some would drift on throughout life, on merry little breezes, oblivious to the world around them.
The lucky hearts would get caught up in the breeze, and dance their way forward to a better place.
Then there would be the hearts that would fall into the lake, and slowly be drowned into an endless sea of darkness.
This was the life of the Hogwarts student body. Like a thousand paper hearts, they all had a certain path expected of them.
