A Constellation of Doubt

Notes: Farscape episode title challenge response on LJ community stargate100. I haven't watched the episode recently, so I'm probably mixing images, but the idea still holds. Daniel drabble for "Solitudes".
Connect the dots. Draw the lines. Eliminate, one by one, the possibilities. He never expected that with each step of this children's game, his friends would slip further and further out of reach. He refuses to believe they are dead, but each planet that turns up nothing makes him wonder - though he tries so hard not to - whether they are beyond his grasp.
The patterns form beneath his fingers, meaningless except as an expression of that unverbalised fear that they are gone forever, as surely as if they had in fact been dead.
