I Saw Him

Chapter3: They Meet

{Two Days Later}

ISHIZU ISHTAR

I sat silently in the sand dune. I couldn't believe that my father had disowned me. Well in truth that wasn't really what was bothering me. What was bothering me was that I left without Marik. I had always imagined running away from my father, but never had I imagined or even in my wildest dreams did I expect that I'd leave him without Marik.

"I'm so sorry Marik," I said tearfully, "I just couldn't take it anymore!" she cried in her defense, "I just couldn't take it," she whispered as she looked around the tiny dune then at her sandaled feet.

I went directly towards the hideout that I had created a month ago for both Marik and I for the day that we would finally tire of father and runaway. But when I got there I saw a poor formerly homeless family living there and I didn't have the heart to send them away so I gave them the place and left. Now I had to hide in random spots not knowing when I'll have to move and getting little sleep.

"I definitely have to go out and stretch my legs," I said frankly and slowly crawled out of the dune and stood up.

It was early morning and the sound of chirping bugs could still be heard. Their melodious song opposite to the melancholy song that played in my heart. I slowly walked around the deserted area, my sandals leaving quickly covered footprints. I kicked up some sand bitterly and stood still glaring at the sandy desert floor bitterly for a moment.

Then I heard laughing. It was a mixture of young high pitched female giggles and a slow composed male laugh. I saw another sand dune nearby and hid behind it.

"You are so funny Kirk!" a Teenage female Egyptian girl said happily between giggles, "how can you keep fooling your teacher like that?" she asked and giggled again, "you know that you have no relations to sleep over with!" she cried in mock disapproval, "what if he finds out that you have no relatives in this part of Egypt?" she asked more seriously.

"Then I get expelled and I marry you even faster," Kirk responded and kissed her on the cheek.

I looked at the boy closely. Then I recognized him. I had noticed him take a picture of Marik and I. But it didn't truly register until now. I hate tourist sometimes.

"What did that girl want from you anyway?" the Teenage girl asked Kirk curiously.

"Just some info on Ishizu and her brother Marik," Kirk responded and my eyes flew wide open, "personally Rajah I'd have a lot to say to any man who tried to tell me that I was supposed to spend the rest of my life guarding some dead man underground," he said seriously, "a whole lot."

"It's an important part of our culture!" I cried in defense and stood up.

I soon realized my mistake when Rajah shrieked and hid behind Kirk. Surprisingly Kirk didn't seem at all surprised. Just rather annoyed that I had interrupted his conversation.

"Funny that you believe so much in a culture that obviously got your ass kicked to the curb," Kirk said bluntly, "from seeing you I can tell that you're not just playing behind those sand dunes with an imaginary friend," he said sarcastically and I started to blush madly, "don't feel bad Rajah would be out on her butt too if her Dad were still alive," he said with a false solemn tone and received a hit on his shoulder from Rajah, "What!" he cried when he saw her reddened angry face, "he never liked me and you know it!" he accused and Rajah looked down her eyes now filled with shame, "I'm sorry I know that you loved your father," he apologized as he hugged her.

"I only wished that he'd like you," Rajah said tearfully, "even on his death bed he requested that I didn't keep any contact with you anymore and I had to tell him no," she said sadly, "would you really marry me Kirk?" she asked almost as if she wasn't worthy.

"Only age and law made by our dumb forefathers are preventing me," Kirk said simply and kissed her on the cheek.

"Should I go?" I asked suddenly as I now felt like an intruder.

"What shall we do?" Rajah asked suddenly her voice hinting panic, "we can't leave her here to live in sand dunes," she said with great concern and my face went bright red with embarrassment.

"Well she's definitely not one to just take money from strangers," Kirk pointed out and I nodded enthusiastically at that statement, "pride might make you starve but it's better than pity," he said simply, "how about a job?" he asked me as he stared at me intently, "you'll be a tour guide for a friend of mine and I'll pay you a salary which excludes what I'll be paying for your room, board and other necessities," he told me as I raised an eyebrow.

"Are you rich?" I asked him carefully.

"Ishizu," Kirk said bluntly, "I could get you in a seven star hotel on layaway just by flashing an I.D. with my last name on it."

"I take the job," I responded immediately.

If he'd send me to a seven stars, no way in HELL am I going to turn down a job that will at least get me out of living in the sand. No way do I want to have someone speaking of me living in a sand dune. It's absolutely embarrassing. (Ishizuh's thoughts)
