AN: Here's another drabble... remember feedback is the payment I get for this and it feels good... whether it's good or bad just to know people are reading it.
There they were again, off world and alone. They had been trained to keep their emotions out of their work... but how do you keep it out if your love is your coworker? They are walking the perimeter of what was soon to become their base camp.
As they walked as slowly as possible they had their eyes and ears open, one hand setting on their own weapon the other tightly intertwined in the other ones free hand.
Sam's thoughts drifted from the task at hand to her new lover. At some points in their travel she would smile inexplicably and look over at Jack, he would in turn smile back.
With half the perimeter secure and the smell of heated up Air Force 'food' drifting to their noses they sped up... letting their eyes watch the tree line and their hands savor the last few minutes of the other ones heat.
Jack stops the second he eyed the tents. Daniel and Teal'c are gathered around the fire, luckily with their back towards them. Jack pulls Sam closer to him, close enough to feel her heartbeat through his clothes.
"So you coming tonight?"
Sam smiles up at Jack, he leans down and gives her a little kiss.
"Sure... where else would I go?"
He hugs her tighter as he shrugs his answer. He leans down to her mouth once again and they get lost in each others touch. They're interrupted and taken out of their stupor by a click on their radios.
"Ah... Jack?"
It's Daniel... his voice sounding a little worried, it has been a while since they had heard anything from their Air Force teammates. He reaches one hand over to his radio and clicks the talk button.
"We're here Daniel... be there in a minute."
He clicks off and leans over to kiss Sam again only to be interrupted one more time.
"Okay Jack... just wondering... suppers getting cold."
Jack lets go of Sam... they reluctantly let go of each others hands and walk the rest of the way to sit next to the last two members of SG-1.
"Jack." Daniel said... something is in his voice that made a chill run up Jack's back.
"O'Neill." Now that was what he expected from Teal'c... but he is still looking at Daniel, trying to decode his smile.
He shakes it off and the four of them slowly eat their supper... Air Force rations isn't something anybody they knew of liked, but it was all they had. After they all finished Teal'c and Daniel headed to their spots, Daniel into a tent and Teal'c into a secluded spot in the woods. Daniel to sleep and Teal'c to 'meditate' or Kel'no'reem. They had already decided on Jack being the first to keep watch, Teal'c being the next followed by Sam and finally by Daniel.
As Jack heads out to find a suitable place to keep watch Sam cleans the few dishes they had used, afterwards making it seem to anyone still listening that she had slipped into her sleeping bag and fallen asleep.
She walks off quietly onto the path that they had made, she scans the tree line looking for any sign that her lover was near by.
"Damn!"
A hand is set over top her mouth quickly quieting her.
"Shh." Jack whispers with his mouth close to her ear.
Sam smiles underneath his hand and he sits back down in his spot. Sam follows, seeing a spot has been cleaned next to him. As she lays down next to him he moves his legs to make a suitable pillow for her. She sets her head willingly in his lap, wrapping her arms around his leg.
"Hey Sam."
She smiles up at him again, he leans down and gives her a goodnight kiss. As she closes her eyes he places a hand on her torso and another runs through her hair.
This is how they like it, alone, away from earth, and in each others arms. They wish they never would have to leave, they live for their long missions off world. So they can forget the rules that they regularly broke.
