Author's Notes:

So much time has passed, and I still don't have my new computer. I'm using the library's computer to post this chapter, which I am not suppose to be doing, but it's all I could think of.

Chapter 19: Girl Talk

"I win," I announced as the Shadow Realm melted away. "Now release Tiffany."

"No," Marik wailed. "How could I have lost? The power of my Millennium Rod is unbeatable."

"Marik, you don't even know how to use your Millennium Item yet," I retorted. "Besides, without that Egyptian god card, you're practically a beginner."

Marik's rod flashed. "You may have won today Pharaoh, but I won't go home empty handed. You're a fool if you think you can take my Millennium Rod. I still control the fate of your friend's soul."

"Yami stop him!" Tiffany cried as Marik pointed the rod at her.

I gave Marik a puzzled look. "Why would I want your Millennium Rod? I already have my puzzle."

Marik paused. "Aren't you trying to gather the 7 Millennium Items in order to regain your past?"

I barely kept my composure. I wanted to scream that I wasn't who he thought I was, but with Tiffany's soul on the line, I had to be careful. "You want the limitless power of the Pharaoh, don't you?"

"Of course!" he replied proudly. "It is a power that should belong to me."

"But you have knowledge of the ancient scriptures," I continued, "and you know that the only way to obtain it is with my puzzle and the 3 Egyptian god cards. Unfortunately, you don't have any of those cards or you would have used them against me."

"What are you suggesting?" he asked.

"You are not powerful enough to beat me," I said bluntly. "For now, all you can do is annoy me. That won't get you what you want. So rather then waste your time here, you should go look for those 3 powerful monsters. When you find them, you can come back to me for a rematch."

Marik grinned evilly. "I will search for them in time, but why should I listen to you?"

"I wasn't giving you a choice," I replied. Having finished gathering enough magic energy, I blasted Marik through the window and out of the train. The Millennium Rod flew out with him.

The chains binding Tiffany faded away, and her spirit returned to her body.

"That was really scary Yami," she said once she had regained control of her mouth. "I hope it never happens again."

"If we're lucky," I replied, "he may have fallen out while we were crossing a river. It's not very likely, though."

Tiffany smiled. "I knew you would save me, Yami. Thank you."

Inwardly, I smiled back. "As long as our bond remains, I will always protect you."

Tiffany brushed her hair behind her ears and took a deep breath. "Well now that this problem has been dealt with, let's go see where Pegasus went."

"His name's not really Pegasus, you know," I replied halfheartedly.

"I know," she replied patiently, "but it's easier to think of him that way."

"Fine," I replied. "Let's go take a look in the next car." Maximus didn't concern me. It was the girl with him that was drawing my attention. She was connected to my past, and the reason I had been banished to the Shadow Realm.

Tiffany was about to open the door to the next room when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to see a girl about her age standing behind her. She was also Egyptian.

"Excuse me," she asked, "but have you seen my brother anywhere? He calls himself Marik."

Tiffany pointed to the broken window. "He was trying to steal my soul, so I beat him in a duel."

The girl didn't look very surprised. "Ever since he got that rod, he's been going on about ruling the world. I hope he didn't cause you too much trouble."

Tiffany smiled. "Don't worry. I had my own Millennium Item to fend him off." She held out the Millennium Puzzle for the girl to see.

"That's the Millennium Puzzle," the girl gasped. "Ishizu said that the ancient Pharaoh of old sealed his powers within it."

"Who's Ishizu?" Tiffany asked.

"She is the spirit that lives inside of my Millennium Necklace," the girl replied, pointing to the Millennium Item around her neck.

"Wow," Tiffany said in awe. "Isn't that item allowed to see the future?"

The girl looked a bit nervous. "Well, I can't exactly get it to work. So far, I've only been able to talk to Ishizu and look at the past once. I've never been able to look into the future."

"That's okay," Tiffany said with a smile. "I haven't been able to use my puzzle on my own yet either. Yami is the only one that can make it work."

"You have a spirit living inside of you, too?" the girl gasped.

"Yep," Tiffany winked. "He's the spirit of the Pharaoh you were talking about."

"Did I ever actually make that claim?" I thought to myself. Tiffany didn't hear me.

The girl looked like she wanted to say more, but the necklace suddenly flashed, and she transformed into an older woman. In fact, she was the spitting image of the Ishizu from the television show.

"I heard what you said to Rachel," she said with a voice that echoed wisdom. "I wish to speak to the Pharaoh."

"Is Rachel her name?" Tiffany asked nervously. "My name is Tiffany."

Ishizu just stared at Tiffany without a word.

"Do you want to talk to her Yami?" Tiffany asked nervously. "She's starting to give me the creeps.

"I'll tell you what," I said after a moment's thought. "I'll talk to her inside the puzzle while you and Rachel get acquainted. That way, no one feels left out."

Tiffany perked up a bit. "That sounds good. I doubt I'll meet any other girls that share their body with an ancient spirit."

The puzzle flashed, and Rachel returned to her original state. She looked around for a moment, confused.

"What happened to Ishizu?" she asked.

"She's talking with Yami," Tiffany replied. "So tell me about your necklace. Where did you find it?"

I'm sorry to make this so short, but I just know I'm going to get caught if I stay online. Next time (whenever that will be), Ishizu talks to Yami. Secrets are revealed about the spirits sealed within the items. Pegasus will also reveal his plans for the Tournament, which will begin after only 2 more chapters.
