She Will Be Loved. Lyrics borrowedfrom
"Beauty
queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself"
The girl crying in her room was beautiful. But like so many other girls her age, she couldn't see it.
"He
was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else"
Ever since she'd grown into this body she'd been judged by it. Oh, it was certainly appreciated. She wasn't ignored by boys...or perverted older men. But she wasn't the kind of girl that could be loved. She wouldn't make a good wife. She wouldn't make a good girlfriend. She couldn't be cherished.
"I
drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door"
She was fun to look at. Fun to touch. Fun to be used for a night and then tossed away, and she wasn't expected to care. Was supposed to like going from one boy to the next.
I've
had you so many times but somehow
I want more
And it didn't matter to anyone that she wasn't like that, had never been liked that. That she wanted nothing more to have one boy hold her and tell her she was special. That she wanted to fall in love, to give her whole heart away and never look back.
"I
don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring
rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile"
She didn't even notice the dark haired boy standing in the street watching through the glass. She didn't know how well he understood her. How he could see through her tan, and her light hair, and the lies of Sae. How he didn't believe the rumors.
"Ask
her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will
be loved"
She didn't understand yet how he would change her life. With his unnatural perception, and his constant pestering. With his stupid jokes and immaturity, that was meant to draw her out. And to hide his own vunerability.
"Tap on
my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I
know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore"
But more than anything, she didn't know yet that his belief in her would make her accept herself. Would make her believe in herself.
"It's
not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us
along
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come
anytime you want"
It wouldn't be easy. But she would find her own strength. And she would help him too, by believing in him.
"I
know where you hide
Alone in your car
Know all of the things
that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at
all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls"
The figure in the street didn't want her to know that he had seen her cry. He knew she would be embarassed. So he stood under her overhang out of the rain and leaned against her house.
"Tap
on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful"
He was nervous. She wouldn't want him here. But he couldn't leave.
"I
don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring
rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she
wants to stay awhile"
He put his hands in his pockets, and suddenly remember his cell phone. He pulled it out and dialed, hoping that she'd answer.
"Momo?"
"Kiley?"
"And she will be loved"
End
