Chapter Four

Yes, I have FINALLY updated! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~ Enjoy and please review!

Nora sat on her bed, gasping for breath and clenching the sheet so tightly that she could hear Aragorn's sewn fabric name rip slightly. She was back in her jeans and green t-shirt again and her hair was plain again.

"Did you enjoy that?"

Adrienne was sitting on her desk dressed in a red shirt and red dyed jeans. A bottle of red nail polish was in her hand.

Nora glared at her. "That was the worse thing I ever did in my life! I just messed up the whole story because now there's no 'the one ring' inside it now."

"You have the Ring Nora dear? So soon?" exclaimed Adrienne. She was delicately avoiding the subject.

"I'm just following what the contract says." Nora said grimly. "If you want it, here it is.

She unclenched her left fist to reveal the small object. The metal looked dull and worn out and not it's usual self. It's power is fading here, she realized.

Adrienne smiled. She raised a hand and snapped her fingers. Instantly, the Ring vanished from Nora's hand and appeared in a small leather bag in her hand.

"Thanks." The Devil stuffed it into a pocket. "I best be going now." She turned around and suddenly; flames spurted out of the ground.

"What the...?" Nora muttered confused.

"Adrienne!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. "What about my other NINE wishes?"

"What about it?"

Nora stared at her. "Don't you remember the deal? I get another nine wishes. Just because I give the ring to you now, doesn't mean I don't get any more!"

Adrienne sighed. "You poor thing," she said sympathetically. "I don't think you read the contract properly. Here." A folder appeared in her hand and she handed it to her.

Nora took it and read the label; Nora Winsor, New Zealand No.1324 She opened it and found the contract, still fresh and crisp.

"Read it aloud now." Adrienne commanded.

Nora obediently picked up. "Number One: A limit of ten wishes can be granted.

Number Two: The Ring must be taken during the ten wishes. Number Three: If there are any problems, just say "cancel wish" and you'll be taken out of your wish.

Number Four: To agree, sign your name in blood below."

She looked back up again at her. "There's nothing wrong with this contract." Nora insisted.

Adrienne shook her head sadly. "If you looked at it carefully, you would have seen that I said, A limit of ten wishes can be granted. I did not say will be granted.

Nora looked at her horrified. "You cheated? I should have known you would do something like this."

The Devil smiled crookedly. "I have a few tricks up my sleeve as you can see. At least I'm not asking for your soul. Just a small token of your appreciation."

"But..." Nora glared at her furiously. "The whole book is going to be ruined! There's going to be NO plot! I mean, the whole trilogy of Lord of the Rings is based on the One Ring. And now over a million readers aren't going to be able to enjoy-"

"Then I hope you know it's your fault me dear. You agreed with the contract." Adrienne gave a glance at the now dying fire. She snapped her fingers and the flames flickered to form a fiery door.

"Goodbye Nora, it was so nice to meet you, maybe I'll see you again sometime."

She didn't say anything.

Finally, Adrienne sighed. "I'll give you one last look at your precious Middle Earth and when you want to get out, just say 'cancel wish'. Now I really must say good bye."

She briskly walked into the portal and was swallowed up by flames.

It was silent for a moment while Nora digested what she had just said. She swore under her breath- the air was blurring around her once again.

This time, she found herself in- the country side?

Nora shook her head, ignoring the thoughts rushing through her mind. No elven wear this time, she thought. She looked down at her feet- A white dress that reached to her ankles. The top was blue and ruffled. A sharp pain seared through her left foot.

Nora groaned- she was barefoot. The gravel hurt underneath her feet and she hated stepping on things like insects and bugs.

I'm going to change things back to the way it was before, she thought determinedly ignoring the subject of feet. No matter how stupid it sounds, saving my own fantasy.
