The Absence of Literary Appreciation
What was love? An amazing phenomenon of candles and flowers, hues of pink and white; of tingles; and romance and passion? Passion. Did she feel passion?
Why did everyone feel love but her? Would it have been better if she had never learnt this fairytale notion of love? If she had never known there were such things as dark princes who could steel you away from everything painful and with the touch of one kiss, completely perfect the world again. Panacea? Is it better do have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? It is better to have lived and loved than never to have lived at all. Does appropriation of proverbs, like in art, enhance meaning, or destroy?
What if she never found true love? She liked to believe that love was the tingles, and the passion, and the romance. Not stability, responsibility, honesty. The plague of 'ty' ending words was a common misconception in the world of love. These were not real love; love was not the rock that remained after the fire had burnt out. Love was the tingles. The tingles that remain after years of marriage, they were real love. People who settled for commitment and strength were missing out. Did passion end in 'ty'? Did romance? Did tingles? Did love? Stupidity did.
Passion. Did her and Jess have passion? They had books, they had banter, both of which they were passionate about. Did that count? With Jess, she definitely had tingles. There were little tingles with Dean when they had first started dating, but there were none when they finished. She knew her and Dean definitely didn't have passion. Hell, Dean didn't even have books.
