Journal, Day 1
Well, it's my first day at the farm. I'm kind excited about it, although it is sad
about my old man dieing. I haven't really been out to town yet, I've been working in the
fields. I did go to a farm today to get a horse. I named him Byron. There was this girl
there named Ann. She seemed nice, but I haven't truly gotten to talk to her yet. She said
that there were other girls in the town that I should meet around my age. I think I'm
going to go out into town tomorrow for two reasons. A) to get seeds for my field. B)
make friends. Being here is going to be a lot easier with friends around. At least for most
people.
Oh yeah, I also met the mayor and Ann's brother. What was his name... I forgot,
I'll talk to him later. He wasn't to talkative. Or nice. The mayor was great though- this
town might work out after all. Yet, my father doesn't really believe that I can do this. He
thinks that this is going to be too hard for me to handle. In three years he is going to come
and visit. Then he'll see how much I can 'handle'.
The mayor told me that this town was real competitive, well at least that's what I
figured. He said, "We have all sorts of festivals in this town- with fun little games and
such. You should come to them!" I guess I'll go. There is one soon, but I forgot when.
I'm sure that I'll find out sometime tomorrow. I have a calendar around here
somewhere... oh well, I look tomorrow. I just guess that tomorrow's gunna be a big day.
