This
is mainly an experimental piece, on two accounts. One, its mainly
speech. Two, a full-length fic could sprout from this. You will also
notice that the woman is nameless. She could be anyone. I would like
to know what people think of this. So please review!

"I'm leavin' tomorrow."
He would have liked his comment to have caused her more shock and pain than it appeared to; the girl standing in his doorway merely nodded.
"Of course, I would hav' come to say goodbye, luv." It seemed strange to Jack, saying these words to a woman who had only ever been his friend, however much he may have wanted more.
"I would expected no less of you, Jack Sparrow," she replied, a slightly teasing grin on her face.
Jack shifted his weight nervously. "So... wha' did ye come for, luv?"
"To say goodbye."
"Oh... did ye know I was leavin'?"
She shook her pretty head slowly. "No. But I did know I'm leaving."
"Wha' do yer mean?" Jack was confused. She lived in Tortuga, she was always here when he returned, she had been for some two years.
"I'm leaving Tortuga, Jack."
Jack blinked. Many questions poured through his mind. "Why? When? Where?"
She laughed in spite of herself. "Always did have to know everything, didn't you?"
"Where ye were concerned, aye, luv." His voice was soft. "Now, answer me questions."
"Why? Well, I've grown tired of the same old routine. I long for freedom. So I'm off to find it. When? Tomorrow. Where? I don't know. That's the point."
"But... luv... I could end up never seein' ye again."
"I know. It has to be this way, Jack. We both know why."
"Do we?"
"Jack... you know where our relationship is heading. And we both know it wouldn't work."
Jack sighed. He shook his head. But he knew arguments would be wasted. Best to savour their last time together. "I should've seen this comin'. Ye pine fer freedom, I've always known it. Yer a pirate, through and through."
She blushed. "Do you love me, Jack?"
Her question caught him off-guard. "Aye. I do."
She nodded. "I thought so." Her fingers strayed up to his beard, and she fiddled idly with it. "I feel the same."
"Why don' we jus' give it a go, then?" he blurted out, pulling her close and holding her waist.
She dropped her eyes. "Our lives are leading us different places."
He lowered his lips to her's, and brushed them slightly. "I would give up my life fer ye."
"Do you really think I'd let you do that?" she whispered, eyes sparkling with tears.
She pressed her lips to his in a warm kiss. He parted his mouth slightly, and she kissed him briefly before pulling back.
"I cannot let ye leave," Jack told her.
"I have let you leave many a time," she replied.
"I was a fool. I did not see what I had."
"You still have it. I will never love another, Jack. But I cannot love you."
She pulled out of his embrace, and walked away. Her last words echoed in his head.
"I will never love another, Jack. But I cannot love you."
