Together at last: A letter from Luke to Grace

Note: After No Future.

To Grace:

Well, I don't really know how to start. It's an unwritten law that thank-you notes are needed after a gift has been given. At least that's what my mom told me up until a certain age. I guess this is a habit now. So, this is thank you. You do not know how much it meant to me when you ripped up that piece of paper. That we can not be together in secret. Now, I don't care what I get for my birthday, although my parents feel so guilty, they're finding me something really great. Joan already gave me something. Besides the kite. Remember that look on her face after we'd kissed. I bet we've scarred her for life. Then directly afterwards, she asked us what was going on. Joan was surprised.

I know that Judith just died, and the lawsuit is happening, but I felt strange, knowing my family forgot about me. I've felt this way for as long as I can remember. Kevin was the athlete, and then he got paralyzed so attention has always been on him. Joan has had so much happening, what with Lyme disease and camp, so recently she's had some attention. Grace, you were the only one that cared, and remember. And I want you to know, this is one of the many reasons that I love you. I'm allowed to say that right? You did rip up the contract. I want you to know that I'll always care and always love you.

Love,

Luke

AN: Wow, I was seriously crying. "No Future" was so good. You all have to admit, the look on Joan's face was hilarious.
