The Marauders were a group, but James and Sirius were another group entirely. It was embarrassing sometimes, when they were hamming it up to a crowd with the most outrageous, obscene jokes. And even more embarrassing when he found himself caught in the spotlight, too. He and Peter, the shy ones of the group, could never do something like that. James and Sirius—they had a history that went far past Hogwarts. They had secrets even the Marauders didn't know, and it showed. Sometimes they were off in their own little world, trading secret smiles when they thought no one was looking, laughing together at something that shouldn't have been funny. They were an inseparable team, and they would never, ever be broken. And Remus was drowning in jealousy. Because when they became the group, he was excluded, he and Peter. He wanted in, but they weren't letting him.
