Text like this is Shooter's thoughts
Text like this is Mort's thoughts
Silence
That's all he felt
All he saw
All he now knew
Silence was his future, past, and present
From silence to silence was where Mort was going.
Shooter immediately took over Mort's body after killing Amy and Ted. If you were to run into Mort on the street, most likely Shooter would be in control and you would actually be talking to Shooter. For the few that looked into his eyes, there was the impression that someone was trapped inside trying to get out.
How true that was.
How, in a period of mere months, could Mort's life have gone from blissfully married to a divorced nothing trapped inside himself? Even he couldn't figure it out. The Town of Tashmore Lake, the town he had depended on and grew to love, had cast him out, forbidding him to return. All thanks to a Southern hick bastard named John Shooter.
An average day for the two involved: tending the cornfields, eating the corn, attempt to do some writing, watch mainly soap operas and sleep.
Shooter remained in control throughout the day and gave Mort control while Shooter slept. But Mort was always too tired to do anything. And even if Mort tried to do something, Shooter would instantly wake up and put a stop to it, Shooter after all was a light sleeper. Everyday Mort spent writhing in agony, guilt, anger, and helplessness. Until now.
Wednesday. Mort's journey to silence. The day started off like normal except for one thing: for once, Mort didn't even fight him for control.
Well Mr. Rainey, for once you're not putting up a fight!
That's because I give up
Good
While Shooter went about his business, Mort slept, saving his energy for the night. That night, Mort lay wide awake while Shooter slept. 2:46, Shooter was in a very deep sleep. Mort quietly got up and crept downstairs. He went to the fireplace and pulled his gun out of the loose brick.
The gun was loaded.
In the process of replacing the brick, a picture frame fell and crashed on the floor, waking the sleepy Shooter up. Mort remained in control since Shooter was barely awake.
Mr. Rainey, what on earth are you doing at this hour of the morning?
Ending this nightmare
You haven't thought this through! Don't do this!
Yes I have. Mort placed the gun to his head
YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Watch me. And he pulled the trigger
Silence.
