Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh is not mine. If it was, there would be more Ryou and Bakura

So please do not sue me!

I got inspiration for this story from Broken Music Box's Strawberries and Black Pepper. Go read it

Smile real nice. That's it. Nice and wide, now. Genuine. Hide the hurt and the pain. Smile to fool. Smile to scare. Smile, smile, smile.

Why do people smile? Do they do it out of joy? Or is it to cover something darker? Me? I smile to hide.

I smile to hide the twinge of jealousy as my friends ignore me and have fun with each other.

I smile to hide the sadness of being alone.

I smile to hide the fact that I'm all alone.

I smile when my yami beats me up. I smile when he cuts me. I smile when he tears off my clothes in a vicious rage, pins me down, and rapes me.

I smile to disappear.

I smile to avoid questions. "What are those bruises from, Ryou?" "Are you okay, Ryou?" "Why are you bandaged, Ryou?"

I smile to ignore. I smile to be ignored.

As I walk away smiling, don't forget the one thing I've taught:

Don't forget to smile.
