Chapter Two

In the dormitory

DISCLAIMER – If you recognise the character then they're not mine, if you don't then I'm guessing they are.

AUTHOR NOTE – Here's the second chapter of this story. There's not much to say except James is a bit of a prick in this chapter, but from the look of it he was like that a lot.

Thanks to the people who reviewed, much appreciated and I hope you like this chapter

"Sirius mate are you still with us? Earth to Sirius, come in Sirius" Sirius frowned as James rapped him on the head smartly with his knuckles.

"Fuck off" he growled, moving his head away so James's knuckles met thin air, for a moment the older boy looked hurt at his best friends comment but that soon melted away with a wide grin and a knowing twinkle in the hazel eyes looking directly at Sirius.

"I get it" he crowed "I get it now; Moony isn't here with us is he? He got up extra early, breakfasted without us and then buggered off somewhere with his new friends, you Mr Black haven't seen a hair of his head today and that's why you're being such a tosser, no sight of Moony makes Padfoot a pissed off dog" Sirius gave up all pretence of ignoring him and instead turned to him with a glare on his face.

"I don't care if he's here or not" Sirius stated his voice slightly higher pitched then normal "Get it through your abnormally thick head James that I don't like Moony in that way, not even a tiny bit so stop making such a prat out of yourself, which I know is an easy thing to do and instead shut up about it all"

"I see" James remarked slowly and calmly, a bad sign indeed "It must have been some other blond amber eyed boy I've been seeing you stare at then with a dopey look on your face, my mistake mate"  Sirius ignored him and instead focused on the Transfiguration notes that James had lent him, Whatever gifts James Potter had been blessed with when he was born his handwriting wasn't one of them, Sirius could barely make out on word from the next, for the first time he felt sorry for the teachers who had to mark the other boys work. James continued to watch him for a second, a million different thoughts racing through his head, mainly focused on whether Padfoot was telling the truth about his feelings or not, he hit on a plan and acted it out

"Hello Moony, you ok?" Sirius's head suddenly shot up from the book and looked around the room with an eager expression on his face, when he saw that in fact Remus was not present in the room, a slight blush stained his cheeks and he turned to James and winced. The other boy was howling with laughter and clutching his sides "No Sirius" he said in-between bouts of fresh laughter "You feel nothing for Moony at all, if you had only seen your face, you looked like Padfoot when he saw a bone all excited and everything"

"Just shut your bloody mouth Prongs" Sirius growled angrily, he couldn't believe he had fallen for that

"Whatever you say mate, I believe you I really do" he hit Sirius across the back "If we were in opposite land that is" Before Sirius could even think of a comeback, the door was flung open so hard that the oak smashed against the wall and Peter Pettigrew appeared, rather he fell across the doorway and crashed to floor with a painful thud. James and Sirius looked at him in surprise as a string of curse words escaped the fallen boy's mouth

"Peter are you ok?" Sirius called out in concern "Why don't you get up off the floor you moron" Peter looked up from where he had began pulling himself towards his bed, his face a picture of annoyance and embarrassment

"Do I look alright?" he yelled at the pair of them "I can't move my fucking legs, does that seem alright to you" James and Sirius shared a quick look of surprise, Peter never yelled at the pair of them, normally he was too scared to even talk properly to them, they glanced back in time to see him pull himself on the bed and collapse breathing hard as he did

"Who cursed you then?" James asked "Looks like revenge is in order here" Sirius nodded and went to speak when another voice spoke

"Who do you think did it James and guess what one guess would probably solve it" all three looked up as a very pissed Remus Lupin walked in, normally it was impossible to tell if the younger boy was angry but they had learnt how to detect it, the most blatant aspect of it was the fact that his Irish accent which was toned down for school became a full one making it impossible at times to understand him, this was one of those times. James took the chance to glance at Sirius and grinned to himself. The other boy's face had lit up and he suddenly seemed bursting with energy, James was surprised he didn't start jumping up and down on the spot.

Remus spoke again throwing his bag by his bed and proceeding to flop on the red covers

"It was the Slytherins" he announced "Or rather it was Snape" a feeling of intense dislike settled in the room at the mention of that name. Remus sighed and grabbed his wand out of his robe and pointed it at Peter muttering something under his breath, a blue spell erupted from the end and Peter gave a sigh of relief as it hit him and he was able to move his legs around freely

"Thanks for that Moony" he said gratefully. Remus turned his head and smiled at him.

"No problem at all Pete" he remarked before turning his face back to the ceiling and covering his face with a gold cushion. Sirius looked at him in surprise which James noted; he came to a quick decision and stood up.

"Come on Pete lets go, you can show me where that no good Slytherin scum is and I'll deal with him, he'll soon wish he had never messed with a Marauder by the time I'm through." Peter nodded standing gingerly on his legs.

"Alright then" he said with a nod, he turned to the two silent boys "Guess we'll see you at lunch ok?" Sirius nodded even as he shot James a worried look, James winked at him and ushered himself and Peter out the door which closed with a loud click, once the talking and footsteps had gone Sirius spoke

"You ok there Moony? Or is there something extremely interesting about that cushion?" he asked in a light tone, a muffled laugh met him then Remus sat up and threw the cushion behind him where it was meant to be, he pulled his knees up and ran slim hand through his hair, clutching at the blond strands.

"I'm fine Padfoot" he remarked, his voice back to being softly Irish. Sirius looked at the pale face thoughtful then stood up and made his way over to where Remus sat.

"Come on Moony, you're not fooling anyone so get over it and tell me what's wrong, spill to Uncle Padfoot" Remus turned to him, bringing his hand away from his hair and resting them casually on his knees.

"It's just all of the studying Paddy, its making me feel a wee bit down, there's so much to do" he sighed, Sirius raised a black eyebrow at him

"The answer to your problem Moony is simple, just don't study as much as you're doing and you'll be fine" Remus laughed in disbelief at him

"Don't study" he repeated "Don't mistake me for you or James Sirius" he remarked keeping his tone casual. He groaned out loud and flung his feet off the bed, he leaned back and picked up a book flipping the pages open "God I got to get going, I only came up here to drop my bag off and to help Peter" Sirius frowned as Remus stood up.

"Yeah you going mate?" he questioned standing up with him, Remus glanced at him

"I've got to go and help Morgan Owens with her Defence revision, she help me with potions so I'm fulfilling my end of the deal" an ugly feeling twisted in Sirius's stomach making him blink in surprise

"Remus" he said in his most persuasive voice "Forget revisions for today, you've already done enough. Take a break from it all, the two of us could do something else" Remus ran a hand through his hair and sighed

"You have no idea how much I would love to take a break from studying Paddy but I can't, Morgan helped me and I have to help her, I promised her and that's not something I break lightly" Sirius face turned sullen and he shrugged

"You better go then, I'd hate to stop you talking to Morgan after all" Remus looked at him for a moment, his eyes scanning the sulky face then a wistful smile broke out on his face

"Well I'll see you at Lunch then" he said brightly "Perhaps we could do something tonight instead? I'll take a break then if you want" Sirius snorted

"Don't bother I'll probably be busy" Remus shrugged

"Well that's a shame, perhaps another time" he turned and left the room unaware of the sad jealous eyes watching him leave. Sirius sighed and ran his own hand through his short black hair.

"I'm in big trouble now"

A/N – There you go, I love Remus being Irish J Have you ever heard an Irish man, pissed off before? I swear you can't understand a word they say. Anyway I hope you enjoyed the story. Please review though no flames if you would.

NEXT CHAPTER – You have two choices, either it can Sirius trying to get Remus away from studying more, OR it can be Remus's thoughts. Let me know ok!
