Chapter Five

AUTHOR NOTE – Here's chapter five, nice and ready for you, I have a 3000 word piece of work to do and if I don't do it then I cant go home for Easter and see my family and it causes complications and everything so this was my way of calming down slightly, no doubt I'll end up updating another story because I'll need it. Anyway hope you enjoy

AffectedMango0 – Damn the charm of James Potter, J.K Rowling makes him into a prat but at the same time you still find yourself liking him. Anyhow yeah things will begin to happen now, I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. I'll try and update the next chapter as soon as I can.
Sunstreake – There you go, you say you love it and I update it as soon as I physically good, sounds a good combo to me!
Sashimi – Yes we all do love a good Mr Padfoot and Mr Moony getting it on and making us all go Ahhhh if the cuteness of it all. Ahhhh the plot will only thicken me thinks. So you'll have to wait and see what happens.

Sylvia Sylverton – Heehee glad you love Irish Remus it's my goal to convert people into thinking he's Irish, it so would work and imagine him speaking with a sexy Irish accent? Padfoot would be a puddle on the floor all the time, anyhow Lily and her meddling will continue, this is Lily after all. Glad you're liking it.
Moondork – Remus and Lily always are best friends in my stories, I just think they would have become good friends after they both were prefects and especially later on when Lily gets with James, like brother and sister almost. Anyhow I'm glad you like the story.
Rocky Vladimir – Because Remus is too preoccupied with revision to see anything bless him, I'm sure even he'll be able to see something though as you'll soon find out.
Remus sighed as he looked at the book in front of him, his head was pounding from trying to remember all the different kinds of ingredients that were meant to go into 5 separate potions and needless to say it wasn't going very well. The page was swimming in front of his eyes and they were burning themselves. He closed the book with a soft bang and glanced at his watch. 12.30 At night. Lily wasn't joking when she told Sirius earlier that they would probably be there all night.
He frowned staring at the sleeping figure of Lily, she had fallen asleep 30 minutes earlier and Remus hadn't had the heart to wake her up till they had to go, Madame Prinze was extremely nice to her favourites, two of which were Remus and Lily and so she had left them there to study when she had thrown everyone else out.
There was something bizarre going on, that whole scene between Lily and Sirius earlier on in the day was confusing the hell out of him. Why did Sirius look so angry when Lily placed her hand over his, it was only a friendly gesture but Sirius had looked furious as if he was ready to go and punch a Slytherin or if one wasn't handy then a wall. Even when Remus trying to save a scene that was bubbling up had taken his hand away Sirius had still acted unnatural for himself and stormed out as if the hounds of hell were snapping at his feet as he went. He hoped Sirius wasn't going to cause trouble and tell James about it all; regardless how reasonable James was he never did react well to Lily's show of affections to other men.
He stood up and stretched his aching muscles; they must have been sitting in the same spot for over 4 hours now. His stomach rumbled reminding him with a vengeance that he hadn't eaten since Lunchtime, a good 12 hours ago.
"Lily, Lily wake up" he leaned across and shook her gently "It's time for bed" Lily mumbled something then looked up with an adorable sleepy expression that Remus couldn't help but smile at. One side of her face where she had been resting it against a book was bright red and her hair was in a right state. Blurry green eyes watched him in astonishment
"Remus" she said hoarsely looking round her in surprise.
"Yeah" he replied "We're in the library still but it's late, we should go to bed" Lily nodded rubbing her eyes"
"Bed" she repeated slowly "Yeah that's a good idea" She got to her feet and began gathering her books together. Within minutes the two of them were walking down the cold corridor towards the Gryffindor corridor "This exam is going to be harder then I thought it would be" she admitted looking at the potion textbook she was holding "There's so much to learn" Remus nodded frowning slightly and looking generally stressed, he was well aware of all the subjects they had to memorise
"I know" he replied finally "I'm sure we'll do fine though I mean we've always done ok in the past" she nodded
"They weren't OWLS though," she pointed out and Remus shrugged
"I know I know" he replied with a sigh running a hand wearily over his face. They reached the Fat Lady who was snoozing peacefully in her frame. Remus coughed loudly but politely watching as she came awake with a start
"Password" she asked in an annoyed voice
"Godric" Lily replied and with a snort the portrait opened allowing them to enter the Common Room, which was empty. Lily turned to him "I'll see you tomorrow then Remus at Breakfast, how about we do Transfiguration and Potions again tomorrow?" she asked glumly, Remus nodded
"Sure that sounds like a plan" he replied "Night Lily" he remarked turning round and heading towards the stone staircase leading to the boys dormitory
"Night Remus, sleep well" she replied. Remus climbed the stairs and went quietly over to his bed; the others were all asleep from the sound of breathing in the room. Remus took his robe off and stopped as his stomach rumbled loudly again. He bit his lip, there was no way he could go to sleep feeling this hungry. He'd have to go to the kitchen and pick something up quickly. He quietly made his way to James's bed and opened the trunk, which rested at the bottom of his bed; on the top was the Marauder map and the invisibility cloak. Remus smiled, this certainly made his life easier. He began tiptoeing to the door then stopped at Sirius's portion of the room. He knew he should leave the other boy to sleep but at the same time Remus wanted to know what the hell was going on with the other boy and Lily. After all however much Sirius was his best friend, Lily was his friend also and he couldn't stand the thought of them arguing.
He slipped through the red curtains and smiled at down at the figure of Sirius, he had his face in the pillow and his duvet wrapped completely around him in a way that made only his black hair visible to see.
"Paddy, Paddy get up" he shook his friend more violently then he had done Lily and waited "Sirius get up" again no response so rolling his eyes Remus leaned right down into his friends ear and spoke as loudly as he dared "Sirius Morgan Black get up now" he jumped back just in time as a arm twisted out of the covers and nearly punched him. He watched in amusement as Sirius twisted his body round and sat up looking round him as he rubbed sleep out of his eyes, his eyes fell on Remus and he looked surprised, then another expression covered his face but was gone before Remus could tell what it was.
"Moony?" he said roughly coughing slightly. Remus nodded
"Yeah it's me" he replied simply sitting down in the edge of the bed, positioned so he could jump out of Sirius's grip if he chose to beat him for waking him up. Sirius didn't seem to show any reaction for wanting to do that though. He ran a hand through his hair wincing slightly as it got caught in tangles
"What is it?" he questioned his voice sounding slightly worried "Are you ok? Not ill?" he reached and touched Remus's forehead but it was cool beneath the touch. Remus hit his hand away
"Don't be a Muppet" he said firmly "Would I really come to you if I was dying?" a flash of hurt came across Sirius's face making Remus wince, he hadn't meant it to come out like that "I didn't mean that" he said with a sigh "I just meant that if I was ill then I would have gone to the hospital wing not to you" Sirius nodded slowly but still looked unhappy before he frowned
"If you're not ill you bastard then why the hell did you wake me?" he demanded loudly. Remus shhhed him quickly
"Shut up, the other two are still asleep" he remarked "I'm starving Paddy, I haven't bloody eaten in 12 hours and I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me down to the kitchen?" Sirius stared at him for a moment
"Just the two of us?" he replied, Remus nodded Sirius was definitely acting stranger then usual. He nodded his head
"Yeah just the two of us" he confirmed he stood up "Want to come or not? If not I'll just leave you here and go myself" Sirius threw the duvet off his
"And miss free food" he said "Not on your life Remmie now get lost while I quickly change" Remus laughed and waited outside the curtains. Sirius didn't take long and was soon dressed in a pair of jeans and a jumper "Come on then" he muttered sending a glance at the two sleeping boys. Remus nodded and the two of them left the dorm. Remus placed the invisibility cloak over them while Sirius spoke the words for the map "There's no one about" he remarked eyes scanning the old parchment "Shall we go?" Remus nodded and the two of them slipped out, they didn't talk on the way to the kitchen. Remus could tell that Sirius was extremely uncomfortable around him probably meaning that he had told James and now he was regretting it. Remus reached out and softly tickled the pear causing it to giggle light heartedly and reveal a door to them. Both entered
Even though it was late at night the kitchen was still in a state of work, House elves were everywhere preparing the food for the morning or washing the cutlery left by the students. Immediately several swamped the two boys all looking up with the same eager excited look in their eyes
"What can we do for you young Masters?" the one at the front said. Remus leaned down slightly to it
"If you could get us some food please then I'd be grateful I'm starving" his stomach gave a loud rumble to back his point up
"Certainly young master" the house elf said and looked around immediately a smell of cooking came in the air causing Sirius and Remus to smell it appreciatively. Remus sat down
"How are you mate anyway?" he said casually looking at Sirius "I haven't had much of a chance to talk to you recently, everything ok?" Sirius nodded a bit too quickly for Remus's liking
"I'm fine" he replied quickly "Things are a bit boring with everyone" his eyes met Remus's to indicate who everyone was "Studying all the time" Remus smiled slightly
"Well some people aren't as naturally intelligent as you are my dear Padfoot" he remarked. Sirius smiled
"You think I'm cleverer then I am," he remarked with a slight bit of humour. Remus smiled
"I only give you credit where it's due" came the light reply "Care to tell me what that scene was earlier between you and Lily, I felt like I was in a mine field, one wrong move would have set you both off in a screaming match" Sirius looked angry for a second, his blue eyes flashing in the light before he smiled instead
"That was nothing," he said "I was just gutted you couldn't come out that's all. I miss you Moony" he remarked staring straight into Remus's eyes. Remus looked surprised then smiled
"That's nice to know" he remarked, "I kind of miss you too" Sirius smiled brightly
"Everyone does when I'm not around" Remus laughed as Sirius walked up to him and sat down beside him. Remus giving him a glance had to admit that the other boy was very good looking with silky black hair, gorgeous navy blue eyes and a face that could easily had made him a model.
"I know" he replied looking away.
"Got you something earlier" Sirius remarked suddenly sounding cheeky, Remus turned to him
"What?" he asked, Sirius grinned
"What good would a surprise be if I gave in and told you?" he asked wagging a finger at Remus "You'll get nothing out of me Mr Lupin no matter how hard you try" Remus grinned at that. Sirius always managed to get him smiling even if Remus didn't want to smile.
"I can normally get anything out of you" he boasted "You can't keep secrets from me Paddy you never could. Like the fact you have one now, I can tell and I'll soon know what it is" Remus smiled though his eyes looked thoughtfully at Sirius's face. Did Sirius just whiten slightly?
"We'll see" was all he said. The food came at this point and Remus pretty much attacked it his manners forgotten. Sirius happily helped himself to the pile of Pumpkin pastry that was on a plate. They stood up and called their thank you to the house elves and made their way quickly to the dorm again
"Thanks for coming with me Paddy" he remarked then stopped "Can I ask you to do something for me?" he said looking at Sirius, Sirius nodded
"Ask me anything," he said lightly. Remus turned to him and smiled slightly
"Leave Lily alone ok? I don't want any trouble between the two of you. You know if you did row I'd chose you over her but don't put me in that situation ok?" he asked. Sirius scanned his face for a second then nodded sighing as he did
"I won't say or do anything to Lily" he promised.
"Thanks" Sirius suddenly smiled looking roguish and for an instant Remus's heart flipped slightly
"You'll get your present tomorrow my Little Werewolf it will give you something to look forward too. Night" he gave another smile and went into his area of the room closing the curtain behind him. Remus shook his head going to his own area. Little Werewolf? Well that was a new one but the way Sirius had said it. Remus shook his head, he must be more tired then he thought. He changed quickly and went to sleep the minute his head hit the pillow. Sirius waited till he knew Remus was asleep then quickly got up, he had snuck into Hogsmead earlier and gotten a simple gold picture frame, placing Remus's favourite picture in it, James had told him to do something simple and that was what he was going to do. He rose quickly and placed it by the Werewolf bedside. Smiling at the figure as he did. Stage one was complete soon he'd have the Werewolf exactly where he belonged, by Sirius's side.
A/N – There you go…. Ahhhh Sirius you're so sweet. Remmie's a lucky boy; shall we say round one goes to him? Oh wait we still have to see what Lily does. Round two anyone! Heehee please Review but no flames,
