Chapter 9: Birthday Delight
The past week that was spent with Cole was marvelous. It has been too long since they spent any time together as a couple and it was well deserved. Through all the hours they spent with each other, Cole kept Phoebe's birthday party a secret. She still had no clue even when he took her to buy a new bathing suit. He just told her that they were going to spend a day on the beach soon.
All the times that Cole spent with Phoebe really made him remember why he fell in love with her in the first place. It wasn't her dancing skills, or her seductions that triggered him to be so interested. It was the way she made his eyes light up when she was around or his knees weak when she kissed him. There were so many things that she did to him without even knowing it. Cole never would have thought he'd fall so deeply in love that he is willing to sacrifice everything just to make her happy.
In preparations for the party, Cole had to make sure every detail was perfect. The band, the food, the flowers, the recreation activities, the butlers, and even the decorations had to be perfectly arranged. He wanted nothing in the way of Phoebe having a good time. And she will have a good time...
Cole knew that on Saturday mornings Phoebe liked to sleep in as late as possible, but this particular Saturday morning was going to be different.
The morning sun rays glimmered into the bedroom where Phoebe was sleeping peacefully. That is, until, the phone rang for the fifth time that morning. "Ugh!" Phoebe groaned rolling over to Cole's side. Her hand searched for him, but she felt nothing. Then, she heard a distant voice talking over the phone. Phoebe grabbed his pillow and placed it over her head trying to drown out the noise at the penthouse. Only the pillow was filled with his invigorating scent, and it made Phoebe want him near even more.
"Cole!" Phoebe called still lying in bed. Phoebe sighed when he didn't answer her call. Suddenly, Cole appeared at the doorway with a breakfast tray in his hands. Phoebe sat up in bed and smiled at him. "What's all this?" Phoebe asked. "I made you breakfast, baby. You don't like it?" Cole asked sitting down on the side of their bed. He pushed a couple of stray hairs away from her beautiful face.
"Of course I like it, sweetie," Phoebe said. "But?" Cole asked. "No buts," Phoebe assured him. Cole leaned in and gave her a sweet kiss on the lips just to arouse her senses. Phoebe bit into a sausage and said, "You always cook the best breakfast, Cole. Thanks, baby." "Hurry up, because we have to go soon," Cole announced.
Phoebe looked up at him and asked, "Where? It's Saturday...Can't we just stay in bed and sleep?" Cole grinned and said, "We wouldn't be sleeping, baby. You know that." Phoebe hit him playfully knowing what he meant by his sly remark. "Are you going to change or are you waiting for me to change you?" Cole asked. "The second one," Phoebe smiled.
Cole leaned down and kissed her as Phoebe motioned him onto the bed with her. They continued to kiss each other passionately, and articles of clothing were flying in all directions when Cole's cell phone rang. "You don't have to really get that, do you?" Phoebe asked between kisses. Cole searched for his cell while trying to kiss Phoebe at the same time.
As Cole proceeded to answer the phone, Phoebe trailed her kisses down to his neck where she began to give him a slight love bite. "Hello?" Cole asked breathlessly. He cleared his throat after that. "What are you doing? You and Phoebe should have been here already!" Prue said over the phone. "I know...I know. We're just a little busy at the moment," Cole explained emphasizing on 'busy'. "Ew! That is so vile, Cole. Get your ass down here!" Prue exclaimed.
"What are they doing?" Piper asked when Prue came back from her phone call. "Trust me. You don't want to know," Prue said. "Is it going to be awhile?" Piper asked innocently. "Why don't you go get another martini, Piper?" Prue asked avoiding the question.
"Baby, we got to go," Cole said groping her still. "Where to?" Phoebe asked continuing to kiss him. "Don't you trust me?" Cole asked pulling away from her involuntarily. Phoebe nodded. "Let's go," Cole said getting out of bed and changing into his outfit for the party. Phoebe slipped on a light blue summer dress to match his dress shirt.
The beach sparkled when the sun hit its curvy waves. It seemed like little diamonds were floating around in the water. Cole parked his car by the harbor, and stepped out of the car. He placed his blue sunglasses on and Phoebe said, "You look like you're worth a million bucks." He took her hand and said, "I am, baby." Phoebe smiled and he led her onto the docks where the yacht stood.
"Cole, what is this?" Phoebe asked confused. "Happy birthday, baby," Cole said as friends and family came out to greet her from the yacht. "Oh, my god! I thought you said that you weren't planning anything," Phoebe said. "Well, I lied. Sorry," Cole admits with a grin. Phoebe hugged her friends and sisters who gave her a raised eyebrow.
"What were you two doing that took so long?" Piper asked. "We were busy," Phoebe answered. "Really? That's what Cole said, too," Prue smirked. Piper looked really lost. "Don't listen to her," Phoebe said. "Can we get this party started or what?" Cole asked out loud.
Everyone piled onto the immense yacht as Cole steered it out to the open sea. The co-captain Cole hired to steer his yacht took over after he got it out of the pier. Cole grabbed some champagne on his way to the upper back of the yacht where everyone seemed to be.
"Hey," Phoebe greeted when Cole walked in. Everyone turned his or her attention to him. "How's everyone doing? Alright, I like to make a toast to Phoebe. My beautiful fiancé who's the love of my life..." Cole paused. Everybody "Aww...." "I know you didn't want a party or anything, but I went ahead and planned one, anyways. I hope you enjoy it and happy 23rd birthday, baby. I love you," Cole said raising his glass. "To Phoebe," they said raising their glasses too.
The fact that Cole could express his feelings for her in public and especially in front of their friends meant something to Phoebe. He's definitely ready for a commitment, and wasn't afraid to say so.
"Whoa, whoa...She's barely turning 23?" His friend from NYC asked. "Yes," Cole answered. "And you're pushing thirty? We got ourselves a cradle robber," He announced. Everyone laughed. "Age is nothing but a number, because I love this man," Phoebe said defending him. Without another word, Phoebe kissed him.
"Alright, so we got the point that you guys love each other. Now, can we get this party started?" Prue asked sarcastically. "Yes, but what can we do?" Phoebe asked. "On the lower deck are four jet skis. So, feel free to get wet. The trainer is setting up the parasailing equipment and water-skiing," Cole said.
Everyone kind of flooded onto the first deck of the yacht, and Cole was going to follow when Phoebe pulled him back. "Thank you for planning this even if I told you not to plan anything. I really needed it more than ever," Phoebe said. "You're welcome, baby. What do you want to do?" Cole asked. Phoebe gave him a mischievous smile.
Cole watched as Phoebe discarded her dress and revealed her bikini. She was unquestionably the most magnificent creature God has ever created. Cole suddenly realized guys from the other yachts were staring at her. He quickly wrapped a towel around her body. "Cole! What are you doing?" Phoebe asked. "Maybe we should have gotten that one-piece bathing suit, huh?" Cole asked. Phoebe looked over at the other boat, and saw the guys.
"Eww...They have beer bellies. Cole, you're way better looking," Phoebe joked to ease his mind. "Phoebe..." Cole said growing serious. "Baby..." Phoebe said. "Alright," Cole said removing the towel reluctantly.
"Aren't you going to come with me?" Phoebe asked pulling her hair back into a ponytail. "I like it dry," Cole replied. "Are you afraid you're going to get your perfectly combed hair wet?" Phoebe teased. His guy friends chuckled as Phoebe got on the Jet Ski. Cole stripped down to his swimming shorts and chased after her on the open waters.
"Look at them. They're so happy," Piper said watching them on the waters. "Of course they are," Prue stated. "I just don't get how they could be five years apart and still get along," Piper said. "Great sex," Prue said casually. "Ew! Prue! I really don't need to know what my baby sister is doing!" Piper exclaimed walking away. "What?!" Prue called after her.
Meanwhile, Cole's Jet Ski flipped and he was in the water. Phoebe swung by to help him up. "Getting too old for this?" Phoebe asked giving him a hand. Cole didn't answer. Instead, he pulled her into the water with him. "Cole!" Phoebe shrieked.
Cole held her tiny hands behind her back and kissed her. Phoebe relaxed into him, and he let her hands go free. She wrapped them around his neck and pulled him closer. They heard whistles and hollering from the yacht. Phoebe pulled back and giggled. "Thank you for making this happen," Phoebe said. "We're not done yet," Cole said.
It was getting late, and they still had to give Phoebe her presents and cut the cake. Cole and phoebe got back into their clothes after washing up. From the bedroom, they could hear the live band playing in the dining area.
The lights were dimmed as Cole lighted the birthday candles on the two-layer cake. They started singing happy birthday to her, and cameras flashed as Phoebe blew out the 23 candles on the cake.
Now, it was time for presents. From Piper and Prue, she got a $1,000 shopping spree at Bloomingdale's. Phoebe pulled out some sexy lingerie on her second present. "Cole, is this your present to me?" Phoebe asked. "No, but I like to thank whoever gave her that," Cole grinned. It was from her friend at the club she used to work at. Then, Cole's turn was up.
"I didn't know what to get you, but I got you something practical," Cole said handing over a medium-sized velvet box. Phoebe looked at him questionably. "Open it," Cole instructed. Phoebe's eyes lit up when she saw the Rolex watch in the box with it's sparkling diamonds. "I just thought it was fair that you should have one, too," Cole said. Phoebe thanked him, but he really didn't have to get her anything.
By midnight, the yacht was steered back to the docks. Cole and Phoebe said good-bye to their friends. Cole went back inside to let Phoebe talk to her sisters in private. "Are you sure you don't need help cleaning?" Piper asked. "No, we have the cleaning crew coming by tomorrow morning. It'll be okay," Phoebe said. "Okay. Well, happy birthday little one," Piper said. "Thanks," Phoebe smiled. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Prue said hugging her. "Okay, you guys drive safely," Phoebe reminded.
After everyone cleared out of the yacht, Phoebe went back to find Cole. She found him in the bedroom putting out the scented candles that made the room smell like gentle lavender.
"Mmm...Lavender. You do realize it is an aphrodisiac?" Phoebe asked walking toward him. "Well...That's why I'm putting it out," Cole said blowing out the candle. Phoebe snatched up a match that was nearby and light the candle back up. "I think you should let it burn," Phoebe said looking up at him. Cole noticed her eyes had a certain glittered to them, and they glistened like the stars in the sky.
Cole knew what she was trying to do, but he didn't encourage her. "Are you ready to go home?" Cole asked casually. "I think it would be better if we stay here for the night," Phoebe said turning the stereo on and pulled Cole close to her. He ran his hand through her soft hair that smelled like citrus flowers. Just being close to her turns him on, but he was afraid she wasn't ready for sexual contact.
Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you finally there you will search no more
Phoebe caressed his cheeks with her gentle hands arousing his senses even more than ever. It has been too long since the last time they shared an intimate evening together and it made Cole apprehensive. "Will you make love to me?" Phoebe asked staring up into his adoring eyes. "Phoebe..." Cole started to say while taking her hands into his. Phoebe's expression changed knowing what he was about to say. She dropped her hands from his and said upset, "Fine. Let's go home. You don't want me, anyways."
Before Phoebe made it through the door of the bedroom, Cole called out after her. "Phoebe, wait..." Cole said pulling her back to him a bit hastily. Without thinking any further, Cole leaned down and pressed his burning lips to her sweet ones. In the heat of the moment, Cole didn't think about if he was hurting her or not. He just wanted what he was craving forever since he returned to San Francisco. Honestly, he had forgotten what he left in SF when he took the job in NYC. He left the most extraordinary woman behind, and now he needed her more than the oxygen he breathed.
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
Phoebe ran her hands on his muscular back as he pulled her closer to him. "I love you, Phoebe. And I..." Cole paused as he gave her another kiss. "I need you, but I don't want to rush you into anything your not ready for," Cole said breathlessly. "I'm fine...You're not rushing me at all," Phoebe said millimeters away from his irresistible lips.
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
He pressed them against her again; filling her mouth with his tongue as he led her to the satin-sheeted bed in the center of the room. He stood hovering over her as she proceeded to unbutton his designer dress shirt, and let it fall to the ground revealing his well-built chest. Phoebe worked her little fingers over his muscles delicately, almost taunting him.
There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way
Cole took her hands and pushed her back on the bed with his arm behind her head. After experiencing their first time with each other, Cole knew he never wanted to be with any other woman except her. She made him want to explore every inch of her body because she was so lovely.
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - Ya I'd die for you
His hands roamed over her summer dress that was too much of a barrier between them already. Cole carefully pulled the dress up and over her head revealing her lacy turquoise undergarments. Cole laid down on top of her with one of his legs between hers. He kissed her eyelids shut, and planted his lips on hers passionately while he unclasped her bra. Cole quickly discarded it as Phoebe's hands rubbed his back up and down stimulating him without even knowing it.
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
The night of passion Phoebe always wanted since she got home was about to happen, and it felt like they were doing it for the first time all over again. She was excited yet anxious for what was about to happen between them. And when it did...It was pure magic...
Cole pulled Phoebe into his loving arms, and pulled the satin covers over their naked bodies. "I love you, Phoebe..." Cole said softly against her ears. "I love you, too," Phoebe said softly. "Happy birthday, sweetheart," Cole kissed her forehead amorously.
