Even after he takes his place as heir to the Takatori fortune, nothing means more to him than the pair of photographs he keeps on his desk.
Mementos from two completely different eras of his life, they remind him of who he was, of why he keeps fighting long after all those in both photographs are dead.
They remind him that family is the most important thing. They remind him that the world's a nasty place and that there are people out there who need protection.
And most of all, they remind him that he has nothing left to lose.
