I don't own Lizzie McGuire
Chapter Six
Inspire Me
That night, Lizzie, Gordo, Miranda, and Matt went to dinner together again and although Lizzie didn't want to, Gordo dragged Lizzie off to a walk, knowing that she would spend the whole time starring at Miranda and Matt.
In the mean time, Matt and Miranda hung around in Gordo and Matt's room, and Miranda noticed a guitar in the corner of the room, "Is that yours?" she asked, pointing to it?
Matt looked where she was pointing and then looked at Miranda and nodded, "Yeah, that's mine."
"I don't know you played the guitar!" Miranda said.
Matt shrugged, "Actually, I only started taking lessons two years ago. Melina thought it would be good for me." he looked down at the mention of the name.
"Oh," Miranda said, changing her tone slightly, "So, are you any good?"
Matt shrugged, "I guess so. I know the basics. I haven't taken a lesson in a while, though."
"Can you play me something?" Miranda said, getting up to get the guitar.
Matt took the guitar, "I don't know. I haven't played it in so long…"
"Then why did you bring it with you?"
Matt shrugged, "I'm working on something I wrote."
"Matt McGuire!" Miranda said, hitting Matt on the arm playfully, "You write, too?"
Matt laughed, "Sure. Isn't that what guitarists are supposed to do, anyway? Write music?"
Miranda shrugged, "I don't know. I still think that's cool. I think musicians are hot."
Matt cocked an eye brow, smiling as he put the guitar to the side and took Miranda's hand, pulling her closer to him, "Do you?"
Miranda giggled, "Oh yeah," she said.
Matt gazed into Miranda's beaming brown eyes and pulled her into another kiss. It was the first time they had kissed since the afternoon and throughout the rest of the afternoon, it was obvious that the two were dying to go it again.
The kiss deepened as they were both on Matt's bed and Miranda giggled as she continued exchanging kisses with her new boyfriend. Miranda had to admit that she could spend all day kissing this guy, even if they weren't supposed to do this, and wondered why she never bothered to try this earlier. Oh, yeah, because a certain older sister might have a differing opinion.
Matt put his arms around Miranda's back and pulled her down to a lying position on his bed as they exchanged passionate kisses and made out as if they'd been doing this for ages.
Finally, after several minutes in engaging in something that Lizzie would have gawked at had she been there, they stopped, smiling at each other as Miranda and Matt sat up and pulled themselves together, "Lizzie and Gordo will be here soon and I'm not sure Lizzie would be too comfortable with this situation," Miranda said.
"Yeah, you are probably right," Matt said, "Although she should understand because she does this all the time with Gordo."
"Yeah, but not in front of us."
Matt considered this and shrugged, "True."
"I'm sorry," Miranda said, feeling bad for ending what she herself was enjoying.
"Oh, believe me, so am I," Matt said.
"We'll have to do more later," Miranda said, giving him a small kiss on the cheek.
"Yeah," Matt said.
"You know," Miranda said, trying to think of something to do, "You never did play me something on that guitar of yours."
Matt glanced at the guitar beside him and picked it up. Suddenly, he had an idea. He put it back down, "I'll play you something later."
Miranda frowned, "Why not now?"
"Because," Matt said, taking her hand into his, "I want to prepare something special for you."
Miranda smiled at this, "Really? No one has ever done this before."
"So," Matt said, "What can I say? You inspire me."
Miranda was so touched at this that she pulled him into a hug.
In the meantime, Lizzie and Gordo were sharing a romantic walk around the boat and things were going surprisingly well, considering Lizzie's attitude earlier. Gordo stopped Lizzie at the side of the boat so they could watch the water glisten with the night sky.
"It's so pretty out here," Lizzie noted.
"Yeah," Gordo said, pulling a piece of hair out of Lizzie's face, and gazing at her, "It's picturesque."
"It really is!" Lizzie said, and she looked at Gordo, who was gazing at her, "Gordo, why are you looking at me like that?"
"Because," Gordo said, taking Lizzie's hand and bringing it to his lips, "I love you."
Lizzie smiled, "I love you, too."
Gordo took a small step closer to Lizzie, "Lizzie, do you realize that in the two days we've been here, we haven't even kissed."
Lizzie tilted her head, confused, "What are you talking about? We've kissed plenty of times."
Gordo, however, shook his head, "No, not really. We haven't had a real kiss since we were back home."
Lizzie smirked, "Is it driving you crazy?"
"Oh, insanely crazy," he said, gazing into her eyes.
"Well," she said, leaning in, "I guess we are going to have to do something about that."
"Yeah, I think so," he said, as he kissed her softly and pulled away.
Lizzie giggled, "What type of kiss is that."
Gordo shrugged, "I don't know. I figured we would start off slowly and make up for the lost time."
Lizzie giggled as she spoke, "Oh, is that so, Mr. Gordon."
"Lizzie, you know I can't stand it when you call me Mr. Gordon."
"And why is that?" Lizzie said, raising her eyebrow and smiling.
"Because," he said, "I don't have someone to call Mrs. Gordon."
Gordo leaned in and gave Lizzie another kiss, this time with a little more passion.
They released and Gordo looked at Lizzie and said, "You know," he said, looking down, suddenly getting nervous, "I wasn't planning on doing this until the end of the cruise, but I guess I can't take it any longer."
Lizzie smiled, "Oh, and what have you planned on doing?"
Gordo reached into his pocket and came up with a box, "Lizzie," he swallowed hard.
Lizzie gasped, covering her mouth as she watched him open the box and show her a ring. Lizzie felt tears coming out of her eyes as she smiled.
Lizzie looked at Lizzie, knelt down and said, "Elizabeth McGuire, I love you more than the world and I know we are young, and we can have a really long engagement, but will you marry me?"
Lizzie still had her hand cupping her face as she slowly nodded, "Yes, David Gordon, I will marry you."
Gordo smiled as he got up and kissed Lizzie passionately, "I love you, Gordo," Lizzie whispered as he put the ring on her finger. It was a perfect fit.
"I love you, too," Gordo said, pulling her into a hug, he laughed, "What do you think Matt and Miranda will have to say?"
Lizzie shrugged, "I don't know. All I know is that I'm the luckiest girl on the planet."
"And I'm the luckiest guy."
After sharing one more kiss, they decided to head back to their rooms. When Lizzie came into her room and noticed Matt and Miranda were not in there, she figured they were both in the other room. She and Gordo went to his room and told Miranda and Matt the good news.
"We should celebrate," Matt suggested, "How about tomorrow at dinner."
Lizzie nodded her head, beaming, "Okay." She looked at Gordo and winked, "Hey, do you two mind if Gordo and I spend the night in the same room?"
Miranda and Matt exchanged glances quickly before agreeing. Sure, they shared a room the night before, but somehow, today it was different. They were now an official couple. They agreed to go to the room they were in the night before.
Once Miranda and Matt were safely in their room, Miranda turned to Matt and said, "I just want to let you know that for now, I think we should sleep in different beds."
Matt nodded his head, "Okay."
Miranda smiled, giving Matt a small kiss, "Today has been a big day!" she remarked.
"Yeah," Matt agreed, "It's been pretty huge."
After kissing each other goodnight, Matt went into the bathroom to change while Miranda changed in the room and waited to brush her teeth.
"Goodnight," Matt said as he got into his bed.
"Goodnight," Miranda called from the bathroom.
Matt was asleep by the time Miranda was finished in the bathroom.
