The little black kitten whimpered in the shivering blizzard, deserted and alone. Its legs finally gave out and it fell onto the snow, crying out into the night.
A few minutes passed and a bleach blond donning a black leather jacket shuffled through the storm, also looking for some sort of shelter. He heard a soft mew and glanced down to see the little furball in front of him.
"Poor thing," he said. He gently picked the feline up and cradled it close to his chest. "I don't provide much warmth, little bugger, but I'll see what we can do."
...
"I don't like cold weather much, and I reckon you don't either."
Spike had found a log cabin in the woods, fireplace included. After lighting it (without getting burned) he placed the kitten close to the fire.
"Meow!" It stretched out, still weak from the cold.
"I got you some milk, pet," he smiled as he left a small bowl on the floor. The kitten glanced at him before sipping the delectable liquid.
"My name's Spike by the way. I don't fancy cats too much, as pets anyway. Would you like a name?"
"Meow!"
"Alright then. I'll call you Blackjack."
