I was reading Stephan King's book On Writing for Lang. and Comp. and he said just to write and see where you get carried, so I did, here's what I came up with. I'm not saying it's good or anything, just thought I'd put it out there.

She glanced at him quickly, then looked back at her paper. Blank, completely blank. She'd been staring at the same parchment for twenty minutes, with occasional glances at him, and hadn't written a single thing.
She growled then stood up. "Ron, play a game of chess with me!"

Startled, Ron looked up from his half filled parchment. "Moine, it's two in the morning. I need to finish my potions and you need to finish some assignment that's due in two weeks."

Hermione glared at him, "For your information, it's due next week, besides I can't concentrate."

"Moine, I have to finish this or Snape 'll kill me. Tell you what, you talk and I'll half listen, half work. It helps to vent."

Hermione snorted, "Like you vent, blowing up at Malfoy and scaring Neville witless."

His reply was, "You talk, I listen."

"But I don't know what to talk about!" She cried. Silence. "Fine, but if you hear something you don't want to it's you fault." Pause. "I guess I'm worried about my test tomorrow, well today, in Advanced Astronomy. I know you probably think I have nothing to worry about but Professor Sinistra told us she's going to be gone for the test so she assigned us to different teachers to test us. I was assigned to Snape, I don't know why she chose him. They hate each other and I doubt he knows anything about astronomy. I'm afraid he'll put something in that we haven't learned yet just so I mess up."

She was interrupted by Ron, "Done!" Glancing over she saw that Ron had indeed finished. "Moine don't worry about that test. Don't tell, but I learned from a reliable person that you're Snape's favorite pupil. Don't look like that, it's true! How could anyone not like you?"

Hermione blushed, then to switch topics asked, "What was your assignment on?"

Now it was Ron's turn to blush, "Love potions."

Hermione laughed, "That's why you didn't ask me for help."

"Partially. You want to know what I learned?" At her nod, Ron went on. "I learned that just telling a person you love them is much better than giving them a potion." Hermione watched Ron as he stood up, stretched, and walked over to where she sat in front of the fire on the sofa. He leaned down over her and whispered in her ear, "Mione, I love you."

Startled, she looked into his eyes and saw the sincerity in them. She smiled, "Me too." Then after five years of waiting and wanting, Ron bent down and kissed her. It was brief but sweet and tender. After puling away from her he stood up and walked over to the stairs leading to the boys dormitory. Just before he went up he glanced back at her and said, "Tell Snape it's his turn."
