A/N: I had to write a persuasive paper on Shrekfor my English class... I thought it might be fun to share lol. I really don't feel this way but it's WAY easier to be against it then to be for it. Enjoy!

Shrek: A Persuasive Paper

What type of movie would people say Shrek is? Many people would say it's a children's movie, but not necessarily. Would a child's movie have naked private areas, vulgar language, violence, and be an overall bad example? I think not.

Right away, in the beginning of the movie, it shows Shrek's naked behind, which I don't think needed to be in the movie. Would any parent want their child or children to see a naked human's behind? I know it's no different than an ogre's. The movie has many parts where there is sexually explicit dialog such as: "Snow (White) ain't easy," by the dwarves, "Oh yeah, that's how I like it!" by Donkey, and "I think he's compensating for something," a comment from Shrek. The singing dolls showing their behinds was not very appropriate either.

The vulgar and violence in this movie were also extremely inappropriate for a young audience. From singing dolls applying the word "ass", to Shrek calling Donkey a "stubborn jackass." I would think that children, learning from this movie, might call each other jackasses as freely as using the word stupid. Also, showing a whole WWE type fighting match was quite unnecessary. Children have died as a result of imitating these moves on siblings and playmates. Another fact is that this movie is teaching our future leaders that by verbal abuse and torture, they can get what they want. This is, too, not a good example. We don't need anymore terrorists then we already have!

Shrek is, overall, an appalling and disgustingly bad example. The many things this movie "teaches" children are animal cruelty (to the bird), promoting slavery, drinking alcoholic beverages and putting others down. Even small things, like bad hygiene and playing with fire. Would anyone want their children taught that all these horrible behaviors are okay, normal every day things?

As anyone can see, Shrek should not be advertised as a "kid friendly" movie. It is sexual, vulgar, and violent. Video stores should move it from the children's section!
