Ship: Drusilla/Sirius
-------------------------------
She still walked in the darkness, like a queen or a goddess of the night. Sirius could clearly remember when they had first met. Drusilla had just broken up with her boyfriend a couple months before, and promised to help "the little puppy," also known as Sirius, find his way home. And she had. She'd gotten them both over to England where he finally got the chance to confront Wormtail, and let Moony & Sirius's godson find out the truth.
She had also accompanied him while he was on the run the following year. They had traveled all over the world together. Obviously they had needed to keep a careful schedule due to her troubles with the sun, but it had been wonderful. Sirius knew all about his Dru being a vampire. His best friend was a werewolf, and he himself was an escaped convict, even if wrongfully accused, so he wasn't going to judge.
He'd been missing her lately. Drusilla hadn't been able to accompany him to Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place. She'd needed to take care of some business involving her relatives in LA. But she had promised to be there by Christmas. He had only hoped her questionable sanity didn't let her forget that promise. It may be true that everyone can be a bit crazy at times; she was more so.
But she clearly hadn't forgotten, because here she was. And she was as beautiful as ever. She was currently on the lawn, looking at the house with a frown. Sirius rushed out to greet her. After brief hellos Drusilla chided, but softly and with a smile; "Bad dog. Not telling princess the house was hiding."
"Sorry, luv," he apologized, but his smile was only slightly self-deprecating. He was just too happy to feel bad.
It was an odd adjustment having her there. Not everyone liked her. But Dru played nice, and both Remus & Harry were among those who at least tried to get along with her. They seemed to like her, probably because she was someone either of them could talk to no matter what was going on in the world. She had this odd way of seeing in you, and as a consequence just innately knowing who you were. But regardless, even those who liked Dru were occasionally unnerved by her, and would avoid contact with the vampiress for a short while after whatever happened that they considered creepy.
When Christmas day came Sirius and Drusilla had a very hard time getting a chance to be alone together. It was late in the evening when they finally managed to both get away.
"Here it is," said Sirius, picking up his present for Dru. She opened it to find a ruby necklace and bracelet set.
"Oh, how lovely. Like freshly spilt blood," her Cockney accent drawled. "Thank you, my shining star."
He laughed, and opened his present from her to find a dark blue pendant. "What's this for?"
"Protection. Charmed to keep you safe and snug," Dru answered. She didn't mention that it was part of her payment from Wolfram & Hart, for assisting them in bringing Grandmum back. A part she had explicitly informed them which would not even allow a killing curse or the barrier to an alternate plane of existance to harm its wearer, if they wanted to keep their necks safe that is.
Noticing that they were standing under mistletoe, Sirius kissed her, sweetly and slowly. They pulled apart to hear a chorus of joking "aww"s and "how sweet"s coming from the younger people residing in Number Twelve. Sirius shook his head with a chuckle, and Dru laughingly wagged her finger at them. Apparently they hadn't gotten away. But that didn't really matter, did it?
