As Brett Sanderson looked past the looming gate in front of him, he saw a large mansion, large but some how…….welcoming.

Looking at himself in a near by puddle he realized that he was under-dressed for a mansion such as this. He smoothed out his black t-shirt, patted dust off of his oldjeans and kicked some dried mud off his worn grey converse. He tried to straighten his hair by running his hands throughit but hisunruly brown hair wouldn't cooperate, it was the best he could do with out a brush.

Oh man, I hope they'll let me stay, ..every since I saw that news thing on TV, about the mutant school, I've wanted to come stay here……somewhere I belong Brett thought to himself as he smoothed his shirt again, in an attempt to look more presentable.

He gingerly pushed the intercom button, waiting…hoping that someone would answer.

Scott had been walking around aimlessly when he heard the distinct buzz of a newcomer. He wasn't sure what to say, with the recent anit-mutant riots, the Institute had gotten several threats, he reluctantly pushed the button.

"Can I help you?" He said trying to put as much authority behind his voice as possible. He heard another voice on the other side

"Yeah, …um….my name is Brett Sanderson, and I'd like to speak with Professor…..Xavier" Brett said unsure how to pronounce the Professor's name.

"About what, may I ask" Scott replied, trying not to be rude, but also trying to protect the Professor.

"I'm a mutant, I heard about this school for mutants and……..I have no where else to go…" Brett ended his sentence with those sad words.

"Oh alright I'll buzz you in and meet you at the door" Scott said, relieved that it was a new student, but he thought back on the young man's tone. It seemed aged beyond reason.

A voice in the back of Scott's mind told him that Brett Sanderson was going to bring a world of change.
