People often underestimate Clu. They label him prettyboy and slacker and when his parents aren't around, pothead and touched in the head. They're all wrong. He's not slow or stupid like people assume. He pays attention, he's not uptight like Jack or angstridden like Carey.
It's why he doesn't question Fi when she brings ghosts and spirits and the otherworld into their lives. It's why he doesn't mock Annie for her invisible pet.
Fi is the most honest person he knows she doesn't lie, she doesn't lie and that's enough for him to believe in her. After Fi's adventures, Annie is a relief. She'd never hurt a fly and he knows that her foray's into the supernatural have been completely accidental.
He knows it's he'll never be the White Knight that Jack is, but the Fool always has a place.
