Prologue
Relina seethed at Naku.
"You rigged the deck!" she cried, her blue eyes aflame.
"Did not!" Naku cried in his defense. Relina crossed her arms.
"As if."
"I didn't!"
They had just finished playing the card game War, and Naku had had all the aces and both jokers.
"Then how'd you do that?"
Naku brushed his blond bangs from his eyes and smoothed his hair, then he answered.
"Luck of the deal. Coincidence," he said, shrugging. Relina looked skeptical.
"I'll believe that in a million years!" she cried, blowing her black locks from her eyes. Naku stood up.
"Anyway, Risha should be home soon."
Risha was Naku's little sister. She had blond hair and green eyes. She was Relina's best friend.
Naku walked out of the room and up the stairs.
I wonder if I should tell her I love her, he thought. He went into his room and dropped on his bed.

"Relina!" Risha shouted. Risha was 15, Naku was 17, Relina was 16.
"Hey Risha!" Relina said, hugging her.
"I have a friend for you to meet."
"Who?"
"Momiji Sohma. He's a first year at our school, like me. He invited us to his house."
"Cool. I'll drive."
