Ode to Ford
From Arthur's perspective
By Shikala Uzuki
Nobody said you were the greatest,
But they can't deny your experience.
The Earth is what you make it,
And while it was never your home,
You were a part of it for a while.
How must you have felt?
Lying there quietly, watching the stars spin without you.
I want to lie there with you, sometimes silent,
Or shyly asking, "Are the green ones really the fastest?"
I watch you get restless, your whole being aching to wander.
This is invariably followed by a bout down the pub.
It's a wonder you haven't done serious damage.
Some nights, you'll follow me home
And make a small claim on my space.
No one else uses the couch, anyway.
There's always a blanket for you,
But I don't remember putting it there.
Some mornings, I have an instinctual feeling,
And I know to make that certain hangover cure,
The only one that works for you.
Sometimes, I would ask about that satchel,
But you would never tell me.
There are so many things I don't know about you.
You've fallen into my life,
And as obnoxious as you are,
I can't imagine a universe without you.
