Note: The arrival of the first people in the "other village" is called the First Year. The French woman's group arrived in the Year 134. Jack and the others arrived in the Year 150. This story takes place in the Year 155. The small village formed by Jack and companions is sometimes called the Novice, since it is the newest. The "other village" is called the Ancient Village by those who live in the Novice; but to the Ancient's inhabitants, it is simply called the Village. The deserted place where the French woman's party had stayed is called the Ruins.
The island is alive. It feeds on the souls and dreams of those unfortunate enough to cross its path. But it is not really the island that is the danger. It is what exists within its mysterious forests – those who know its secrets…No one is safe from the powers of the Broken…
It has been almost five years since they had landed on the island. And in those few years, their numbers had already dwindled to less than 20. The only ones left now were Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Charlie, Claire, Locke, Shannon, Boone, Sayid, and a few others. Danyelle, Claire's daughter, is turning 4 in two days, and Charlie is very busy with the preparation of her "adopted" daughter's surprise birthday celebration. A lot of things had changed since they're plane first crashed on the mysterious island. But one thing remains the same - they are still the outsiders. Though they had already discovered many of the island's secrets, such as the existence of a small village three days' journey away from them, they still did not know enough. Just the other day, another one of theirs had disappeared – Alex – the French woman's son. Ever since Alex's disappearance when he was merely 4 years old, he had live in that other village until Sayid and the others found him and discovered who he was. Alex was now 25 years old – a strong, athletic, and devastatingly handsome man who seemed to be as mysterious as the island itself. In the other village, he had been trained as a hunter by the Chief, and was even close to becoming the next Chief-Apprentice when Sayid's party walked into their village. His mother was with them, now Sayid's wife, and she had cried uncontrollably when they all finally discovered who he really was. All he remembered of his mother and the past was his name – Alex – and the tune of a lullaby his mother used to sing to him. When Sayid's party returned to their own little village, he came with them. But now, Alex had once again disappeared – the same way he did 21 years ago.
