The First Cut is the Deepest

Chapter 5

Harry walked out of the empty classroom, rubbing his cheek roughly. Why on earth would Hermione hit him? Why didn't she accept his apology. He was trying to be nice, and she was rotten to him.

Harry, fed up, started walking back upstairs to Gryffindor Tower. On the way, all he could do was ponder his thoughts.

'What can I do to make Hermione forgive me? Do I want her to forgive me? Why should I? I mean, is there a real reason to? I tried to apologize, and she blew me off! Fuck her!'

After a while with only his thoughts to amuse him, he couldn't take it anymore. The tears started to form in the corners of his eyes, and his face was becoming red, though you could still notice the welt on his cheek.

He backed up into the wall, and slid down it, forming his body into a pile at the bottom. He gathered his knees up to his chest and hid his face in them, crying.

After a while, he heard footsteps coming towards him. He didn't quite care who it was, so he didn't look up.

"What's the matter, Potter? That Mudblood dump you for weasel?" he heard the familiar voice of Draco Malfoy, drawl.

"Leave me alone, Malfoy," Harry said through hushed sobs, not caring to look up.

He then knelt down next to Harry, putting a reassuring hand on one of Harry's hands.

"Is everything alright?"

"Why would you care?"

"Because...Are you going to tell me what's bothering you?"

"Why should I?"

"Because telling me might help me release some pressure, 'cause I might be able to help you, it might be able to get me some more jokes to make fun of you with, you know, the usual."

Harry's shoulders jerked back as he gave a slight laugh, looking up.

"I called Justin Finch-Fletchley, a Mudblood, and now Hermione, his girlfriend and my best friend, won't talk to me anymore," Harry confessed.

"That's it?" Draco asked, shocked at how little the situation seemed.

"No," Harry said calmly. "I just choose not to tell you all my other secrets yet."

"I see," Draco said, narrowing his lips and nodding.

"Do you have any ideas on how to fix it?"

"Nope. But if you need me," he leaned in and gave Harry a quick kiss on the lips. "Just let me know."

With that, Draco stood up, and walked back down to the Slytherin dungeons. Harry just stared after him, shocked at what had just happened.

'What is going on,' he thought to himself. 'I'm all screwed up inside. Sirius died, Hermione and Justin are mad at me, Draco MALFOY kissed me, and I enjoyed his company for once.'

"AHHH!" he groaned as he got up and started heading back to Gryffindor Tower.

Short, yes, I know. Next time, I promise, it will be longer than any of the other chapters. And, yes, I am afraid that the characters are out of character. Sorry. Well, part of this story is to have the characters out of character, and sometimes I can't help writing it like that, though I am disparately trying to put them more into character as I go further along. Thanx a bunch for reviewing, all of my 'adoring fans'. Just joking. I'll try to update soon. Thanx for reading! Please review and tell me what you think!
