Ok, based a little on something I was feeling a few months back, around July in 2004. It seemed to fit pretty well with Kagome and Inuyasha. I even got a little teary writing this. Please no flames.

It's ok. I'll be fine. As long as you are happy.

Kagome sat on the small footbridge across the stream in the village. She had her feet dangling in the water, with her shoes off beside her. Today, she was thinking of someone special. Inuyasha. He is all that has been on her mind in a long time. She picked up the tiny bottle that held pieces of the Shikon No Tama in it.

"Inuyasha. I see you with Kikyo and it hurts. Why? It hurts because I love you with everything that I am and yet I see that you want something else. That your heart already rests with someone. I know you care about me, but it's not love. But that's ok. I can live, I suppose, just as long as I can see you and know that you're still around." She says to herself.

"Baka. You call me wench and yell at me, then you save my life and tell me that you care. And then Kikyo comes along. If only I could get the courage to tell you how much I love you. I know that Kikyo still holds your heart, and I suppose that's ok. I suppose I can be ok with that. As long as you're happy. That's want for you. If only I could tell you that I love you." She said, and a small tear trailed down her face, then landed on the Shikon shards.

"Oy, wench! Who were you talking to?" came the voice of an all too familiar hanyou. She quickly wiped away the tear. "No one. I wasn't talking." Kagome said, somewhat startled because Inuyasha had come up behind her. She stood up and faced him. "You ok?" Inuyasha asked, detecting the tear trail that still lingered faintly on her cheek. "Yeah, I'm fine." She said and smiled. Inuyasha held her hand with his. "Let's go. Those shards aren't gonna find themselves." He said. She smiled at him but it wasn't a full smile. Simply a half smile. She was trying to be happy, but it became harder everyday. "Let's be off then.".

They walked off to join Mirokuo, Sango, and Shippou. As they headed to their friends, Inuyasha let go of Kagome's hand before anyone saw. Kagome thought to herself as she smiled half heartedly at the hanyou, 'I love you and I want you to be happy. Even if I'm not part of that happiness'.

Well, there you go, a little somewhat-teary one shot one chapter thingy.

(BTW- Dedicated to Josh.)
