Okay. I don't normally do little drabbles like this, but this has been floating around in my head ever since my best friend informed me of a certain important fact about a little scene in 'Lt. Jane Doe' that not many people seemed to notice. Or maybe just no one understood the significance of it. But now, I do, so I just had to write a little story on it! So, I hope you all like it.
His Girl
His girl. That's what he just called me. His girl. It was sign language, but I understood it; he knew I would. He had to know I would. And it's that that amazes me… he just called me his girl, knowing full well that I'd know what he was saying. And now I know what they mean when they say 'floating on a cloud,' because I couldn't feel floatier.
I don't think I'll ever forget this moment. His hand was on my cheek, just a second ago. Forming the sign that means 'girl.' But it was on my cheek rather than his, which makes it possessive. A very possessive use of the sign. He was possessively calling me a girl. He was calling me his girl.
I'm well aware I'm still staring at him. I'm sure I must look shocked. I hope I look happy too… I sure feel happy. No, happy isn't even the word. I'm thrilled! I can't believe he just did that. And now he's grinning at me in that way he does, his eyes holding that wonderful sparkle… God, I just love his eyes.
I wonder if he knows how he just made me feel, how fast my heart is beating, the blush I feel creeping to my cheeks. I hope he does. He should. I want him to know. I want him to know more than anything. Because he just made me feel like the most special person on the planet. I feel all floaty, and I don't think I could be smiling any wider. Because he just called me his.
The End (inserted 'cause there's no other way to show that the next thing is another author's note seperate from the actual story)
As an end note, this is about the scene in 'Lt. Jane Doe' where Kate, Tony, and Gibbs were in Abby's lab after Kate and Tony did their Jerry Springer show act. Gibbs brushed his hand against Abby's cheek, and she got this really shocked and dreamy look… and the reason for that wasn't just because he touched her and he's not a touchy guy. In sign language, to brush your hand against your own cheek in the shape he had his hand means 'girl.' When you do that sign on someone else's cheek, it makes the sign as possessive as one can get. So, he actually did just call her his girl. (Now let people deny that he likes her! Lol, sorry.)
