…I think this poem is weird… And I wrote it…

A Stage with Masked Players---
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
-William Shakespeare
From As You Like It.
---
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
A truth,
In which none can deny,
A fact of life,
No matter how much you don't want it to be.
A scene,
With a hated boy, who's full of happiness.
Could the gaiety be a cover?
One must never know.
Alongside the boy,
Stand the many faces of smiling Compatriots.
Could the smiles be a pretense?
One must never tell.
As they walk,
Another player enters stage left.
He is befittingly drunk,
And yells and slurs many slanders at our Characters.
He turns to the hated boy,
Recognizes the bright yellow hair, and begins his monologue.
"You! A demon!
You stand there like the monster you are!
"A Fox!
The nine-tails sway in my memory, burned in my mind!
"And you are him!
Blasted! Cursed! Begone your presence! Leave!"
The player,
Drunken yet truthful in his ramblings, exits stage right.
The Compatriots turn,
Now to the hated boy, confusion written on their display.
The fox,
His smile once cheerful, is now clouded with fear.
Will they hate him?
As the drunken man has? Scorn? Disapprove?
And all-of-a-sudden,
A smile shows on one face, then another, and another.
The hated boy is no more hated,
And is grateful for their understanding.
All is well,
The secret that bound him to his facade has been dissipated.
Yet,
After the fox exits stage, a whisper is spoken.
A disdainful whisper,
A whisper of hate. It comes from within the Compatriots.
Their disgusted words,
Would leave scars on the hated boy, if he were there.
Because after the curtains are drawn and the viewers have left,
There begins a strange occurrence.
The smiling masks of the Compatriots are taken off,
To show their true faces.

Okay, let me save you the trouble and just say it myself; WTF?
If Shakespeare were alive today, he would smite me after reading this.
…Okay, no more caffeine for me…
Read? Review?
