"Detective Lockley, may we speak with you for a moment," asked a middle-aged man.
She nodded, and escorted him and his partner to an empty room. Once Kate had closed the door, she turned to them. "Okay, who are you? And who do you represent? Also note, that if it's Wolfram & Hart you'd better be prepared to be told to fuck off."
"We don't work for any organization named Wolfram & Hart, ma'am," answered the younger of the duo. "I'm Agent J, and this my partner Agent K."
Agent K continued; "We work for a sector of the U.S. government called M.I.B. That's stands for Men In Black." The two went on explaining what this 'M.I.B' was, and what it did for the planet Earth.
Kate had checked her watch three times before they finally finished. "You're four months early," she replied coolly. At 'Agent' J's confused expression, she elaborated, "Fool's Day is April 1st, not New Year's. But it was a cute prank, on top of being a thorough waste of my time."
"Detective," Agent K placated, "you've been investigate some more off the wall cases lately. This has been brought to the attention of our superiors, who happen to think you would be a good addition to our organization."
"If you think my behavior shows a belief in the paranormal, let me inform you of something." Kate leaned across the table. "I have never believed aliens, not even when I was little girl." Pulling out of his face, she left the room with a "You can show yourselves out."
