A Ruruoni Kenshin poem by Night Hunter MGS
Memories of a Manslayer
You are so very forgiving,
For every person but you.
You'll never forgive yourself,
Or forget what you used to do.
You're a living, breathing legend;
At least by your other name.
You just wander the vast land,
Running from your bloody fame.
They say that in the old days,
Your speed was like that of God.
Your sword carved out a new era.
Your soul was soaked by blood.
To lowly utter your very name,
Freezes the blood of all that hear.
You were relentless, unstoppable,
An enemy's greatest, gnawing fear.
So many ghosts haunt your dreams.
Ghastly memories of all those you slew.
You can't erase your bloody past.
But you can at least start life anew.
(dedicated to the character of Kenshin Himura from Ruruoni Kenshin)
