… Darkness…
A strange limbless creature slowly walked through the woods. His clothes were muddy because it had rained earlier and he fell. His golden blond hair was messy and wet, matted to his forehead. His usually bright, happy blue eyes were now dull and dark. His yellow shoes were also covered in mud and squishing in the damp earth.
… The darkness…
He stopped, then sat down on a fallen tree and pushed his hair to the side. He sat in silence for a few minutes, then looked up at the trees towering over him. A light breeze rustled the trees and sent a small shower over him. He didn't know what to do anymore. All seemed lost.
… The darkness is everywhere… all around me…
He stared at the trees and the dark sky beyond them. He seemed so small now, so… unimportant and insignificant. He felt so worthless. "How could I let this happen," he spoke aloud. Unable to contain his emotions any longer, he buried his face in his hands and began to cry. Everything, it was all his fault. He failed to do anything and now… it was too late.
Death my only comfort"Rayman?" The strange creature looked up at his best friend, a large blue frog-like creature. He watched him for a while, then sat down beside him. "Ray, it's… it's gonna be alright. I know it is. Please, don't feel bad…" The frog put an arm aroud his small friend, trying to comfort him. The creature, named Rayman, hugged the frog back and tried to hold in his sobs.
I don't belongThe frog held onto Rayman until he stopped crying. The frog didn't know why he never cried yet, he didn't even feel scared for once. Maybe the shock just hasn't caught up to him yet. The frog looked at Rayman and tried to smile reassuringly. "You feeling better?" he asked. Rayman wiped his eyes and smiled weakly at his friend. "Yeah… thanks, Globox." Globox nodded and said, "No problem, buddy."
They turned me away…Globox stood up and looked at the sky, darkening even more and threatening to storm again. Globox took Rayman's hand and helped him to stand. "We can't stay here, Ray… we have to find shelter, far away from here." Rayman nodded, unable to speak anymore. He never wanted to speak again, he wanted to crawl into a dark hole and say there forever. "Come on," said Globox as he led his best friend through the remains of the forest. Leaving behind their once beautiful home and leaving behind what used to be their friends.
… I should have listened…
