Disclaimer: I don't own these characters.
"Fire," Benjamin Martin yelled to his troops when they attacked a main British highway. For the most part they hit the British soldiers, who went down clutching their heart. The British were again prepared for the attack and had some soldiers hidden in the wagon.
Ben saw out of the corner of his eye that another British troop was galloping down a hill and he yelled to his troops to fire and run. The Patriots were at a disadvantage. They ran for their safety. Many were captured and missing. Even more died.
In a last effort, Ben Martin and his army marched from Virginia to Philadelphia to gather the remaining Continental fighters. Many of them there had heard about the "Ghost". When they saw him in person they knew of his story and were inspired. Most of the fighters that Ben and his army found were grateful to rejoin the army. They were relieved to have a leader again.
Ben and Gabriel were the main people that tried to figure out their plan of attack. The men that had been collected after the horrible Continental loss weren't trained too well and so the few French that had showed up trained them to hit targets.
Loud crashes shook the ground as the cannonballs were fired. The Patriots didn't shoot any cannonballs. In fact, they didn't even have a cannon. The Patriot army had a militia formed at its middle. They had a great shot, but weren't nearly good enough to fight head-to-head against the British army. The Patriots had the first chance to shoot. As they fired their guns, men fell from their spots and lay dead on the ground. That wasn't enough to even come close to beat the British army. The Patriots faced a sea of red. They could have had the first ten shots and still would have been at a disadvantage.
"Make Ready, Take Aim, FIRE."
The British soldiers lifted theirs guns on their shoulders and aimed them at the Patriots.
They fired their guns simultaneously and dropped the Patriots army practically in half. When all the gun powder had cleared away, it was the Patriots turn to fire. They took their shots and retreated. The British soldiers charged and took control of the field. General Cornwallis wasn't happy with just a win; he wanted to win the war that day. He kept up his charges and ran the Patriots into the area of their tents. They ran until they got to the rest of the Continental army and the militia lay down on the ground. The waiting Continental army fired at the unsuspecting British and killed a lot of them.
As they reloaded, the militia took up arms again and fired at the British. When they finished they charged the British and fought one on one. It seemed that they were beating the British, but the militia was too used to retreating and the line broke. Benjamin Martin had to wave a flag and tell them to push forward so that they would keep fighting. They continued to retreat. The rest of the Continental army had to come and help them fight. The militia, with few exceptions, ran for safety and left the Continental army to finish their fight.
The Continental army marched on through the trail of dead soldiers to the waiting British army. After seeing how the militia fought and how effective it was, the Continental army still went head to head with the British.
Generals barked out their orders to their troops. The Patriots took the first shot, but when it was over, the British still out numbered the Patriot army 2 to 1. Then, to make things worse, the British had to take their shot. The Patriots knew this, so they decided to charge instead of just standing there and getting shot at.
With spears on the ends of their guns, they charged forward. They met the British with a loud crash of metal and the cannons stopped firing because they didn't want to hit their own people. It was a brutal fight and most of the inexperienced soldiers weren't able to match the British. After all of it was over, barely any of the Patriots were left alive.
