You're right you know, what you have said all along, we are better off alone. Did you ever regret what was said, or did you think the cold hard truth was better than lying to ourselves? Ever since I was a little girl I have looked up to you, and now look what you have become. A selfish pathetic old man who is too self obsessed with himself to realise what a narcissistic coward you are. You have always prided yourself on doing your work to protect and serve other people, but what about your own family, we needed you too. You wonder why mum left and you wonder why our relationship fell apart. Well take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror and the answer will lie in front of you.
You are so unbelievable, how you never changed. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the thing you like and see the bigger picture. I have learnt to understand the way you show emotion, but I don't think I can ever accept it. I am nothing like you and I never want to be like you and that is why I have made the decision to keep my mothers maiden name, Kennedy.
I have traveled half way around the world, just so I will never have to see you again. I am not what you wanted me to be. I have found a life for myself, a life that I want to live and a life that is void of you. I will continue living that life and accomplishing my goals and I will continue to break down the emotional barriers that you have created for me. I will overcome this. I will emerge the victor.
You're right you know, what you have said all along, we are better off alone.
Goodbye Gibbs, you are not forgiven, but you are forgotten.
Along with the letter resting in the old mans hands, was a photograph. The photograph was of a brown haired, blue eyed twenty something wearing a pale blue shirt and a navy blue skirt. Sitting a top her head was a navy blue cap with an emblem resting on top of the brim. Behind the girl hung a banner;
To the academy graduates of Today,
You are the Queensland Police of Tomorrow.
