Chapter 1

CHOO! CHOO! The Hogwarts Express!

Emerald green eyes the size of Britain darted back and forth across Platform 9 and ¾. They took in every sight, drinking it in as if to never forget it.

"Lily, dear?"

The owner of those eyes turned toward her mother.

"Oh, there you are!" A thin middle-aged woman, Mrs. Evans, patted her hair down nervously. "Well that was… quite a trip!" she managed to sputter out. Still nerve wrecked from their excursion through the brick column, Lily's mother turned to her husband for help.

"Anything for out little witch!" the man said, eyes glowing with pride for his youngest daughter of two. His older daughter, Petunia still hadn't spoken yet. Her eyes were shut tightly and her fists still clenched. Mr. Evans wondered if she had even opened her eyes yet since crossing over. He was a middle-aged father, with brown hair, some premature gray flecks gave him a distinguished look. As Mr. Evans looked down at Lilian, Lily as everyone called her, he couldn't help but chuckle. She had been so confident the whole summer, and now that his 11-year old girl was at the train platform, it seemed that her confidence was faltering slightly. As was his wife.

"Now Lily, if you need anything AT ALL don't even think about hesitating to send us a letter! And if you don't like it at school there is nothing wrong with you coming home. It's never too late to enroll you with your sister. Did you hear me Lily? If you need ANYTHING, just send for us." Mrs. Evans had gotten down on her knees to be closer to her daughter's height. Both of the Evanses were on the taller side, and their children would probably grow to be the same.

Mr. Evans put an arm around Petunia, and the other ruffled Lily's hair. "We're all here for you. Isn't that right, Petty?" Mr. Evans nudged his older daughter, who finally opened her eyes.

"Right." She said flatly as she craned her neck to see a group of people dressed in what looked like her bath robe.

Lily smiled gratefully to her family as her mother fixed Lily's scarlet hair. "Thank you… And maybe next year you'll get a letter too and we can go to school together, Petty!"

Petunia turned her attention back towards her younger sister. "Maybe." She had been forced to promise her parents that she wouldn't ruin "Lily's special day" as they had called it. She just wanted to get it over with. Petunia HATED being around the freaks. She still couldn't believe that her parents were letting her once normal sister become one of them. Not only that, but they were supporting it whole-heartedly!

As Lily kissed her parents good-bye, she thought she saw tears in her mother's eyes. "Don't be sad, Mum!" she said, and gave her an extra hug.

Lily's father waved her off toward the train. "Don't worry about your Mum! Have a good time at school! We'll see you at Christmas break!"

Mrs. Evans wiped the tears out of her eyes and waved alongside her husband. "Send us an owl the moment you get there!" she called as they watched their youngest daughter board the Hogwarts Express.
