"Your shirt..." Tara said, before she tumbled into darkness

"Hey, time to wake up." A soft voice said.

Slowly, Tara opened her eyes. She looked around wildly, scared that she couldn't see Willow. "Wh-where am I?" She stuttered. "Wh-where's W-Willow? Is this the h-hospital?"

The blonde man in front of her shook his head sadly. "You're dead, Tara."

"D-dead? S-so this is h-heaven?" Tara took another look around. It certainly didn't seem like heaven. And she wasn't feeling peaceful and happy like Buffy had described.

The man shook his head again. "No."

"H-hell?" Tara's voice was tiny now.

"Of course not."

"Then where am I?" Tara asked shrilly.

The man laid a hand on her arm. "Calm down, Tara. You're with the Elders now. My name's Leo Wyatt. Do you know anything about Elders?"

"You're supposed to look after good witches. That's all I know." Tara gnawed on her lower lip, and took a look at herself. She was still dressed in the clothes she'd died in, but the blood stain was gone.

"Well, that's more than most people do." Leo said. "Ok, basically, we're supposed to look over our charges, who are either a) good witches or b) potential whitelighters. You had the luck of being both."

Tara nodded. "So now what?" She asked, surprisingly calm. 'The Hellmouth will do that to a person.' She reflected.

Leo smiled. "First you learn how to control your new powers, then we'll give you your first charge. She's in England. Do you want to do this? If you don't you can just go on to heaven."

Tara shook her head. "No." She said firmly. "I want to keep helping."

"I knew you were perfect." Leo said approvingly.
