A/N: Well, here is my first attempt at an ASoUe fic. Hope you enjoy it, and reviews are appreciated! By the way,it's a one-shot, unless I get rave reviews and some brilliant idea for how to continue it. (But I doubt that will happen... the idea, anyway! :p)

Bloodstained Glass

I blinked a few times to bring my vision back into focus. Groggily, I looked around. Slowly, it all came back to me - the party, the concert, Quigley...

He'd taken me to the symphony that evening. We had dressed in our finest clothes and listened to the most talented musicians in the city. The only bad thing about it was that the music had sounded bland and boring.

We were at a party now, and most of the guests were beginning to leave. But Quigley was still talking in hushed tones with a few other men, not far from where the pianist gently caressed the ivory keys in a soft rendition of Silent Night. As one of the men spoke, Quigley's expression changed from concerned to anxious to apprehensive, and his eyes flashed with worry. What are they speaking about? I wondered. An uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, I rose from my seat by the fireplace, teacup in my hand.

As I walked toward him, I sensed an unfriendly air about the man he was conversing with. "Quigley," I whispered weakly, just before I fainted. Falling to the hardwood floor, the last thing I heard was the breaking of glass as I tried to grab a hold of something.

Panting, I opened my eyes to find myself engulfed in silken sheets and bedclothes; it all had been a dream. My eyes adjusting to the darkness, I rolled onto my side and reached to touch Klaus's shoulder. My hand suddenly throbbed in pain, and his shirt was left bloodstained as I drew back my hand. I glanced at my palm nervously. Red blood flowed from a single cut; I took in a sharp breath. Frantically I thrashed about in bed, searching for the source of the wound. Then it appeared:a small shard of glass, blood glistening on its jagged edges. It was smooth and light, with delicate desgins painted onto it. Of a larger object, this was but a piece.

Sugarbowl?
