Thud!

Noah Percy awoke with a start.

Thud!

He heard it again, only this time it seemed to becoming closer, and sounded not totally unlike footsteps. His heart began to race as this seemed very strange to him… but then he heard familiar voices, and herelaxed.

"Mother, Father is that you? The voices stopped and the sound of footsteps got weaker and weaker as if they were walking away".

"Curious, Noah climbed out his bed and slowly crept towards the door".

"Mother… Father are you there"?

His heart began to race again because he did not like it that his parents were not answering him, then he saw something he would never forget… his heart turned stone cold, two hideous creatures were standing with their backs to him and could not have been 10 metres away from where he was standing. Both of them almost completely covered with deep blood red cloaks. He completely froze on the spot. He opened his mouth to call out but no sound came. He was sure they hadn't seen him yet and he wasn't going to take that chance. He was about to turn back and crawl back into his bed, when they started to talk, not howling like he had heard echoing from the woods but actual words, his brain snapped into gear, these weren't any voices they were the voices of his parents. They were just loud enough for Noah to pick out what they were saying.

"Well done dear, I think you did a good job in painting all those red slashes on people's doors".

"Shush, keep your voice down Noah'sasleep just down the end of the hall".

" Sorry, what do we do now? I think we ought to get out of these filthy costumes, and make sure we leave no traces".

"Ok". Answered Mr Percy.

They both took off their cloaks and masks still leaving the rest of the body suit on. They both started to move off. Noah didn't know where to go or what to do. He shifted his weight onto his other leg realising the other one had gone completely numb when the floor boards creaked, his parents who were already half way down the stairs sharply turned their heads and looked at him through the gaps in the banisters, all Noah could think to do was scream and get out the house and that is exactly what he did, he let out the most horrifying blood curdling scream he could and ran down the stairs, his father stuck his leg out, and he went flying, tumbling and rolling, his head banging on the solid wood stairs until he landed with a thump at the bottom of the stairs, blood spilling from a crack in the back of his head which mixing with his hair created a sticky mess.

" You killed him," screamed Mrs Percy". Mr Percy moved towards Noah, his emotionless face sent a chill down Mrs Percy's back. He bent over Noah.

" I didn't kill him he's just unconscious, unfortunately"…
