A/N: This is my first attempt at a fic in the Little House on the Prairie fandom. Please review. I would love to hear from you of what you think. It's only two drabbles.

No Need to Fear

In the Big Woods

"Pa?" the little girl called quietly from her trundle bed as she pulled the covers over her head and shivered, more from fear than from coldness. The sound of the wolves howling irked her.

"Yes, Laura?" Pa replied, sitting gently on the edge of the girl's bed. "What is the matter?"

"I'm afraid." Laura peered out from her covers timidly.

"The wolves?" asked Pa understandingly. Laura nodded. "Go to sleep, Laura. Jack won't let the wolves in."

"Yes, Pa," Laura answered. She still was afraid, but she snuggled under the covers next to Mary. She was safe with her family. Pa would protect her.

Leaving Walnut Grove

"Pa?" Laura called quietly, tears coming to her eyes.

"Yes, Laura?" Pa replied, placing his arm gently around his daughter. "What is the matter?"

"Pa, I'm afraid." Laura hung her head.

"Of leaving?" Pa asked sadly.

"Yes, Pa," Laura answered. "Hold me, please." She chewed her lower lip.

"Now, Almanzo's a nice man. He'll take care of you." He held his daughter close.

"It's not that, Pa. It's leaving you – leaving the security I've felt knowing you and Ma were near. I'll miss you."

"And I you, but you'll feel just as safe with Almanzo after time, you'll see. Now, look at me. I'll not have you cry."

Laura smiled a little and stood up. "Yes, Pa."

"That's my girl. Now, go to that wagon, and remember, you'll be in our thoughts and prayers daily."

"Thank you, Pa." Father and daughter embraced one last time. And Laura left, knowing she would be safe.

The End.
