"I Just Want To Be With You"

Disclaimer: I dont' own em. Sucks dont' it?

It started the same way it always did. Just the two of them, swaying gently to the soft music playing in the background.

I just want to be with you

Dance the night away

Here by your side

He could feel her hands in his own rough callused one. So much softer, yet there was still the mark of someone who worked with their hands. His other hand rested at her waist, holding her tightly to him.

I just want to be with you

To hear you laugh

and see you smile

I just want to love you,

let me hold you for a while

If he leaned forward, he could bury his face in her hair, the smell of lilacs drifted up to him. Still moving to the easy rythym of the slow song he could nuzzle her softly against that milky white neck. Still he could smell the lilac.

I just want to be with you

Here by your side

from dawn to dusk

I will never leave you,

Babe please just trust

The instrumental background suddenly softened, and the singer crooned,

I just want to be with you

She stopped dancing then. Let go of him and stepped back. He could feel that familiar clench around his heart even as he continued to reach for her. She was leaving.

Let me love you please.

The music picked up again and continued for a few more seconds before it died out.

Dick sat straight up in bed. Blinking a few times to accustomed his eyes to the darkness. He was in his bed...in the Manor. Alfred had finally convinced him to stay the night.

Running a hand over his face and then through his hair, he threw back the covers and swung his feet over the edge of the bed. His stomach was giving the distinct impression of hunger.

Padding down to the kitchen he tried his best to keep his thoughts from his dream. Two weeks now, the same dream over and over. Opening the fridge door he was showered in light for a moment as he stood there trying to decide what he wanted.

He didn't know how long he stood there. Maybe 30 seconds, maybe 3 minutes. He closed the door without getting anything. Turning around, he leaned back against the fridge...and slid to the floor.

In that dark Manor, in the wee hours of morning, that rare moment when both Batman and his faithful companion and gentleman's gentleman were actually asleep, not a sound could be heard save for the quiet pain-wracked sobbing.
