A/n: Well I was bored in English class so I wrote this. It's short but not too sweet, it's actually rather sad. But anyway…on with the story!

Summary: The man everyone loves took his own life. The man no one knew will live on forever.

"Clark, I'm leaving." Lana told the young farm boy she loved as much as one human can love another, though Lana didn't know that Clark wasn't exactly 'human.' He had wanted to tell her so many times, but the fear that she would not accept him kept him from telling the girl he loved with all of his heart, (he was pretty sure he had one) his deepest darkest secret. That he, Clark Kent, was an alien.

"I get the feeling you don't mean the house, or the city, or…even the state."

"Your hunches have always been right," she replied, tears welling up in her dark brown eyes.

Clark wanted to take her in his arms, hold her, and protect her from the pain. But he knew, this time…he was the thing causing her pain. He took a step back. "No."

Lana looked up at him, into his deep blue green eyes, "Excuse me?"

Clark took another step back. He turned around when be backed into the loft window. He kicked the wooden boards, which broke loose and fell to the ground below under the pressure of his strength. "If this fall would kill me, I would gladly take the plunge."

Lana stared at him, "Clark, no!"

"Clark Kent couldn't have rescued you from anything, Lana."

"Clark, what are you talking about?"

"Clark Kent can't save anyone. Not even himself. Kal-El did what Clark couldn't. He lifted tractors, walked through fire, blasted through bullet proof glass with a charge of his body. But Clark Kent did something Kal-El could never do. Clark Kent fell in love. And when I fall, Clark Kent will die, but Kal-El will live forever." The alien farm boy turned around, no tears were in his eyes, no expression was on his face, and let himself fall back. Clark Kent fell, never to rise again. It would be too hard. He had hurt everyone he loved, and if he were to rise again, he would fall to his knees from the pain in his heart. And he heard the love he would never see again, scream out his name. Her angelic voice was the last thing Clark Kent ever heard.

A/n: I know…it's a little confusing. But if anyone understood it…please review.
