Author's Note: Thanks again to the incomparable MoosieMC and apfelstrudel. Thanks ladies, you are the best.
Disclaimer: Well I currently own nothing connected to the Gilmore Girls, I know Santa is going to bring me my very own Luke for Christmas.
This is for Smrou, who wanted her third kiss, dammit.
Stupid parade, he thought as he ambled back to the diner. Two months. TWO MONTHS he had been gone away from her and that stupid parade had destroyed their perfect reunion.
Perfect? A goofy grin spread across his face. Maybe not perfect β what with the awkwardness and the cigarettes and the gut wrenching panic that had sent him into the pharmacy - but damn close. When he had dangled the necklace in front of her and had seen her stunned and pleased reaction, everything else had faded away and it was her and it was him and it was like they were back at the Dragonfly and they were going to kiss.
Damn parade. At the Dragonfly it had taken one idiot, today it had taken a whole parade of them to stop the kissing. Damn, stupid Kirk and damn, stupid parade.
But, he thought as he entered the diner, she was happy to see him and it had nothing to do with coffee or food or necklaces. She had left Rory to follow him and she was happy that he was back and they were going to see each other later. Definitely.
He was a goner. He knew it and accepted it and couldn't wait to see her again.
The bell jangled and she was there β goofy grin matching his own β clutching the bag with the cigarettes in one hand and the necklace in the other.
"Can I talk to you a minute?" she asked.
"Sure," he motioned towards the stairs to his apartment.
She moved quickly behind the counter and the curtain and he followed her and there they were, alone, and she was handing the necklace to him. His heart stopped and he heard his blood racing through his head. This didn't look good. But she was talking to him and he focused on her request.
"β¦it on?"
His heart started and he took the necklace in his shaky fingers even as she lifted the heavy curtain of her hair and smiled up into his eyes. He leaned forward, laying the thin chain on her skin, smelling her and feeling her warmth. He closed the clasp and let the necklace fall against the column of her throat. He smiled back at her as she let her hair fall so it covered his fingers where they rested lightly on her collarbone.
"I missed you," she said.
"Good," he replied.
"Sassy," she grinned as she pressed herself up against him, moving her lips to cover his. He kissed back, his fingers sliding to her shoulders to pull her closer as she moved her hands to his hips to do the same. They stood there for some time, just kissing and enjoying each other; damned if they both didn't hear music again.
