A/N- I own none of the characters, just the plot. This is my first slash fic, so it might suck. But review please)

Far Beyond Compare

Harry sat outside by the lake thinking. Sirius' death was still fresh in his mind and showed no sign of leaving. His eyes were bloodshot and swollen from days of silent tears. There was noone he could talk to, noone who could understand. The war has begun and he had one less person to give him a boost in the right direction. At this moment, he hated everything and everyone. Including himself. He hated life, and how it brought so many nasty surprises. He hated his friends, for not understanding. Most of all, he hated Dumbledore for not telling him the truth. The truth. Two very painful words. Two words that chose his fate and ruined his life. There was no purpose for him in life other than to do a simple task. Save the world, be a hero for a day then be forgotten. He knew it would happen. A hero is not a hero unless they die. Harry didn't want to die. He wasn't too pleased with being alive either. He got to his feet and wandered aimlessly through the warm autumn night. The sun had set shortly before, but Harry didn't take notice. All he wanted was to be alone. Or comforted. As much as he said he didn't need it, he did. As he was sorting through his thoughts, he heard a twig snap. His head snapped up and he searched frantically through the darkness to find the source. "Potter? Is that you?" an uncertain voice asked. "Um.. yeah, it's me. Who's there??" The person who spoke lit his wand and Harry was face to face with Draco Malfoy. For the first time in his life Harry actually looked at him. His pale face was flawless, with two piercing steel eyes and a perfect nose, and a mouth to die for. His platinum hair shone like gold in the light from his wand. Harry stood there and stared, dumbfounded. Draco stared back, with blank eyes. Finally, Harry's voice returned to him and he could speak, but his voice was shaky. "Um. What are you doing here?" "I could ask you the same question, Scarhead. But I'm here because I needed some air. What's your excuse?" Harry was still staring at him. "I lost track of time." He managed to say. His insult had hit Harry but it had struck a different nerve this time. He felt a pang in his stomach he hadn't felt since his feelings for Cho were still present. Before he could stop himself, or even think about what he was doing, he lunged forward at his beautiful enemy and captured his lips in a very passionate kiss. It was Draco's turn to be dumbfounded. He froze like a statue. But something stirred inside him he never felt before. Something that urged him on. To Harry's great surprise, he started kissing back. After several minutes, the two lovers pulled back, breathless. They looked into eachothers eyes for a few seconds then Harry looked down. "I'm sorry..." he mumbled. " I shouldn't have done that." he started walking back towards the castle when he felt Draco slide his hand into Harry's. Harry looked at him, bewildered. "What's this about?" Draco simply smiled his famous smirk and said "You're beautiful you know that?" Harry smiled back. "And you're far beyond compare. I've never felt this way." Draco stopped and turned towards Harry. "Wait 'til you see what's next." Harry smiled and they started back towards the castle, still hand in hand, two secret lovers.
