Chapter 2Ruthie's head was about to burst with emotions and questions. The emotions hit first. Her first move was to begin to scream but Simon's hand covered her mouth.
"Ruthie if you scream hell kill me!"
Her second move was to go "Who-What-Where-Why??"
The man spoke for the first time. His voice was rough and cruel. It also sounded like he had been through this before.
"Well little girl, I obviously can't tell you who I am. If you use your head you can probably figure out what I'm here for and only you where it is. I'm here because it's my job. Well, that should answer all your questions
"Money?" asked Ruthie, in a strangled tone.
"Wow you're a smart girl" the man answered in a sarcastic tone. " Now your brother says your family has moved the safe since he's been away at college and they haven't had time to inform him of its whereabouts since this is one of the few weekends he's been home. That's the only reason he got you involved. Now where is it?"
"I'm sorry, Ruthie" whispered Simon
" Umm I think it's this way
"All I have to say is you'd better not be lying considering I've got a gun, too." stated the man.
Upstairs Martin had been trying to hear the conversation. He didn't usually eavesdrop but (maybe it was just him) Simon hadn't sounded right. He crept to the top of the stairs after making sure the twins were locked safely in their room. (He really didn't want to play 20 questions with them now)
He came in near the beginning of the conversation and the first thing he heard was "He'll kill me" That was all he needed to hear.
