The wind blew gently against the aging cherry blossom trees, its pink blossoms floated in the air as it swirled and danced with the wind. The surroundings were peaceful and quiet, the gentle hum of Kyoto's inhabitants going about their daily business echoed slightly in the backdrop.

Misao walked calmly, she felt particularly peaceful on this time of day. The air smelt clean and clear as if the troubles that had plagued them these past years were nothing but the wind in its velocity where soon the wind would gentle and disappear leaving nothing of its presence behind.

She sighed, holding the hot pot of tea in her hand, its heat somehow comforting in her palms as she climbed the stairs that led to the temple and Aoshi. She smiled a gentle smile not in the least daunted that he had barely responded to her with any amount of emotions. She understood that this was also a journey in his life. The journey of recovery, of letting go of past pains and terror and moving forward to a future that maybe was frightening but was also thrilling because of its unknown.

Some people said that Misao had a young soul, her eyes sparkled with an innocence that only children and those of the ignorant had, her eyes ever so hopeful and in the wonderful belief that everything eventually would turn out all right. But unbeknown to a lot of people, she found herself seeing far more then she let on. "It was better to enjoy the present then to mourn the past," was that not how most sayings went?

And she found herself enjoying the present, even though Aoshi appeared not to care she knew he did, for why would he sit at the temple all day nursing his shattered heart and the need for the peace that would surely comfort it?

He was not ready for her - she knew, and somehow she also knew that she was not ready for him either. They both had a journey to go through, this new and exciting journey that would be their future.

She hummed as she reached his spot, facing the view of the mountains and streams that seemed rise out majestically before them and calmly began to serve him tea, knowing that he was well aware of her presence. There was no need for talk even though she found herself talking, her excited shatter as she spoke about the days events.

As she laid out the tea before him and watched him calmly sip his drink, the heat rising gently from the cup, she couldn't help but wander where their path lay in the future. Would she get what she wanted most in the world? Would he look at her in the same way as she looked at him? Perhaps not or perhaps so but in the end whatever his decision it was, she would support him, she loved him deeply and strongly and longed for his happiness, for the smiles that used to hint at his lips and for the shadowed eyes to shine like they used to.

In the end only time could tell.

She fell silent from her talk and looked out of the view, the earth seemed to sparkle and the sun shone brightly in the sky.

In the end only time could tell.
