Simple Snow
The terrible snow storm calmed to a light snow fall by morning in Northern Makai. Little blue birds chirp softly signaling the early rays of the sun. They fly from tree to tree in the high branches. "Puu," calls an odd bird flying with the others. This blue creature is like a penguin with floppy ears and messy black hair. It observes its master and his friends down on the Makai floor.
Birds on the ground take flight in fright as a five-tailed fox chases and pounces on them. Kurama is in a playful mood in his fox form. He jumps at the falling snowflakes trying to catch them before they fall to the ground adding to the already fallen snow.
Eight yards away, Hiei sits against a tree watching the fox's antics. He wears a smirk of amusement while observing Kurama playing in the snow. Not known to Hiei, a child ice maiden studies him carefully. Yukina is kneeling in the snow with an ice block in front of her. She is making an ice sculpture of Hiei.
Botan, Shizuru, and Kayko ice stake on a patch of ice Yukina created for them. Botan glides with grace across the ice making designs with the blades. Kayko, on the other hand, is having a difficult time. She is being led by Shizuru at a slow pace. Shizuru instructs Kayko as they move together, telling her what to do and offering reassurances.
The two immature boys are in a heated snowball fight. Both Yusuke and Kuwabara are throwing large snowballs at each other. It appears that Yusuke is winning the battle. He is still somewhat dry due to the fact that he can dodge faster. Kuwabara, however, is soaked to the bone. He curses at Yusuke as Yusuke just laughs it off and throws another snowball in Kuwabara's face. Koenma and Genkai watch the two boys fight. Koenma chuckles at the boys' mock fight, and Genkai watches them with a mask of indifference.
It is the simple snow that brings calm and joy to the company that never has a moment of peace.
