Syaoran couldn't help but notice how out of place his guardian was.

Her crimson hair falling in a single sheet almost up to her waist, ornamental black butterfly clips holding stray locks in position.

Black elbow gloves covered her arms, with her trademark ebony black bells hanging from crimson strips of clothe, clinking as she bustled about the kitchen helping him in preparing breakfast.

Her black strapless apparel was made of a flowing gauzy material Syaoran could not identify. The hem, which reached the floor, was embroidered with red butterfly patterns. A silk red drape casually slung about her shoulders, her obsidian butterfly drop earrings twinkling merrily against the light.

If he didn't know any better he would've thought of Ruby Moon as a witch because of all the black. Her eyes, however told otherwise.

Syaoran suppressed a sigh but he couldn't help but smile. God knows his guardian was on a perpetual sugar high. She would reply in singsong, dance about the house, and beg shamelessly for sweets.

Something a dignified practitioner of the dark arts would never do.

A crash brought him out of his thoughts.

A nerve below his right eye twitched.

"Oops! No worries Ran-chama! I'll get it fixed!"

Astonishingly clumsy too, he mentally added.

Fixing tea he set it about in a silver tray the handles engraved with vines.

He fingered the fine filigree details, his eyes turning glassy.

Ruby Moon skipped to the counter where her Master was hunched over something.

Twirling on her red silk ballet flats with black lace inserts and the butterfly embroidery that has become her trademark, she breezily presented the now fixed teacup to Syaoran.

She caught the expression on his amber eyes and frowned.

He was reminiscing again.

And it was always a bad thing.

Chapter Two

-

The clock struck seven.

"You look beautiful Okami."

Sakura did not bother to suppress a sigh.

"I hate this Yue—oh, it's Yukito now isn't it?"

Her guardian, disguised as a mortal smiled up at her.

For almost an hour he had attempted to tame the mess that was Sakura's hair.

Secretly, the moon guardian was proud of himself.

(And no he did not refer to himself as a fairy godfather. It sounded gay, for lack of better term.)

He had even managed to make it look especially fine and silky. Yue had wished for quite some time now that Sakura grew her hair long. He couldn't do much with her shoulder-length tresses.

He only tied green filmy ribbons to her hair that he would've described as sweet.

Not for the first time, Yue was glad that the obnoxious sun guardian was not around.

He would've not let the matter rest.

It was not his problem that he had, quote-unquote better fashion that all the women combined in this kingdom.

His eyes landed on the quiet princess.

"Sakura-sama shouldn't you go and mingle?"

She shot him a disapproving look.

He did not fail to notice that she still did not merit him with words.

"It wouldn't hurt for you to try."

"It would if I accidentally stepped on their foot… hard."

He frowned.

His mistress was only sarcastic and cynical when something was bothering her.

"It's those marriage proposals that Touya mentioned isn't it?"

"I don't want to get married," was the immediate reply.

He couldn't help but arch an eyebrow.

"Your father and mother would want to have grandchildren."

Yue frowned some more when she let out a snort. "How about Touya! He seems to be more than willing to give them grandchildren."

His gaze landed at the prince. Indeed he was. He was smiling charmingly at a pretty red haired girl.

He did not focus much on his mistress' brother.

Sakura was, after all, his only concern.

He couldn't help but reflect back at the terms that a fairy godmother (or godfather in his case) must comply.

Sakura was going to give him a hard time.

A fairy guardian can only be recognized as truly accomplished when their charge has been successfully married and fulfilled the happily ever after ending.

… How thoroughly cliché…

-

"Is that the pig family's dinner?"

"Yes Ruby Moon… and do not even attempt to try and sample the dessert this time."

Ruby Moon manipulated her eyes to Bambi proportion.

Syaoran stayed firm.

"Please… just a slice will do. Come on Ran-chama… pity me. I know you do."

He started to voice out a negative when she swooped down on the bonbons, trifles, and pudding he had arranged delicately.

"Thank you bocchama. I know you can't stand me."

The above statement was said while the fairy guardian contented herself with her master's cooking.

-

"You have that creepy smile on your face again."

"Really now?"

The said creepy smile did not falter.

Spinel lounged idly by the foot of a high-backed chair.

"Please don't tell me your insolent mind has decided to concoct one of those silly matchmaking plans of yours."

A pale boy with raven locks grinned at him.

Spinel rolled his eyes.

"Who is it this time?"

"Ooh. Interested much?"

"Shut up."

"I could get you hanged for talking like that to me!"

"Right."
